i think thats the core issue that you just touched upon, there is a large group of people in the west like that

You work behind a desk for 8 hours, have the choice of food you want 3x per day, If its too hot in the summer theres Air conditioning, if its too cold in the winter, theres heating.

for a while, there was no real racial tension, people were happy, people were prosperous

Fear of dying became an all time low

So people started thinking "well, I'M doing fine, but theres still OTHERS out there that need help, And rich people being so rich they don't need all that money, cuz I don't need it for MY life, so they're mean and don't wanna share!"

Achieving success is no longer a goal, because people can live a succesful life 90% of the time in the west

divorces are cuz people are no longer willing to sacrifice,

Well that depends on how success is measured, one of the major problems we have in the West in regards to debt and happiness is that Success is defined as "own specific things" vs "Live comfortably while doing things you enjoy"

yeah, i think those are all connected indeed
ive been thinking about that, maybe thats why in some cultures they have/had "warrior" trials, where when a boy would approach "adulthood" or "manhood" they would do a series of trails to prove to the tribe that they where worthy of that.
for example, they would have to survive /endure for x amount of time in a completely dark and enclosed area, i guess to let them feel how it is to be completely isolated from a society, or to stresstest or something.
i think something like this is needed xD but a modern version

there was a name for something like this, i used to hate the concept but i agree with it more and more the older i get

a person with Downs syndrome, who can like, work at like Walmart, collecting those carts outside on the parking lot, they have a home, they earn enough to live, and enjoy that they're able to work, and have friends etc

They will never be a Rockefeller, or Bill Gates, or Zuckerberg, but i'd still consider them succesful
