I hate when my mom talks at me about the Kavanaugh thing because she has no doubt whatsoever about what is alleged to have happened, when there is zero evidence of anything.

i have a running theory, mostly a joke theory, that the reason man has been used is not sexism. People just shorted human to just man, then women demanded they be treated differently because "its not fair" so we said "okay, women".

2018-09-28 14:12:55 UTC

Used to be,iirc, man in that context was neutral. only when feminism hit did people see it as gendered, in English. We got it by way of German though and they have gendered words. Not sure of the history of its usage there

2018-09-28 14:13:52 UTC

gender used to mean biological sex too

2018-09-28 14:14:17 UTC

and how we got gender as separate is a fucked up story.

2018-09-28 14:15:37 UTC

they think if they control language, they can erase thoughts, ideas, and actions. That if you can't talk about them, you can't share them. They fail to realize humans were not given language, we made it. Therefore no single person or group can control language because language is made and used by individuals.

there was a botched op on a male baby, so he got the parents to raise the kid as female. lots of fucked shit ensued and to make a long story short since im on a phone, he used it as evidence of gender and the parents two kids committed suicide as adults

2018-09-28 14:16:03 UTC

removing a word doesn't make the thing go away, it just forces the evolution of a new word

2018-09-28 14:17:25 UTC

his "research" was considered groundbreaking

2018-09-28 14:17:42 UTC

label the term black person bad? we change to African-american. Well, thats the same physical thing, so of course now we go to POC. (ironically close to colored person, which was some iteration of black at some point)

2018-09-28 14:19:12 UTC

i wish so bad people'd start using poc as a slur. it seems to escape everyone's notice how similar it is to "colored people."

2018-09-28 14:19:45 UTC

I mean, poc rolls off the tongue like kike, wop, mick, etc. its begging to be a slur!

2018-09-28 14:21:03 UTC

there was a video, maybe crowder? where an SJW said "colored people" instead of "people of color"

2018-09-28 14:21:15 UTC

oh wow

2018-09-28 14:21:28 UTC

oh it was funny

2018-09-28 14:23:27 UTC

2018-09-28 14:24:07 UTC

2018-09-28 14:24:40 UTC
2018-09-28 14:25:05 UTC

Poc is already racist

2018-09-28 14:25:45 UTC

lol, it is. But by looking at their skin color we validate their identity as pocs or some shit

2018-09-28 14:25:57 UTC

If saying "colored people" is racist, is the NAACP racist?<:TimThink:482277772497125378>

2018-09-28 14:26:08 UTC

To not look at color ignores their lived experiences

2018-09-28 14:26:44 UTC

since only privileged white cis males have the luxury of not being judged by skin color

2018-09-28 14:27:23 UTC

2018-09-28 14:42:50 UTC

if people use it negatively itll gain negative connotation in due time, imo. words have as much power as we're willing to give them.
