not sure why voter id is such a huge fighting point in the US
canada and provincial elections require either the voter card + id (medical/drivers license/passport) or bill with name + id

it's millions of people who are not getting deported anytime soon, they said no more amnesty last time and here we are

once you have a huge number of people in the country, it's really hard to get them out, especially when one of your major parties craves them as a voter base
