It's not always going to be as simple as "You are the same race as me therefor I give you preferential treatment", but often more like "Oh hey you're in this very small group I am too! How cool is that that you've had some similar experiences as a result of it" which is going to lead to an easier time becoming friendly, which will make you view them in a better light and more likely to hire them.
I think, at this point, we can confidently say that there is a staggering amount of nepotism in media and many tech companies, which is also why I am strongly, strongly in favor of more meritocratic hiring.
Like if you were traveling through China and met another American at a bar you'd probably hit it off talking about what you miss about home.
Yes, it can just be the university they graduated from.
I have seen that in interviews. Two dudes were basically just bantering with each other, not because of their gender, but ebcause they were from the same univeristy, and he would get hired, even though he completely fucked up the coding question.
I loathe that with a passion.
I fucking hate nepotism.
Yeah, it sucks.
there are ways to sanitize the hiring process
But, companies should reap what they sow. If they want to hire the dude that went to their university, instead of the more qualified Asian guy, then let me hire him.
I hope your fucking company dies.
like having a hiring commitee
That is also why I am for free markets and against regulation. Do I hate nepotism? Yes, with a passion! Do I want the state to step in? No ... I want those companies to go under.

Feminists should be 100% behind gun ownership:
There is virtually no other leveling mechanism that can equalize a differential of strength/power as much as a gun. An old granny has no chance against a robber, unless with a gun. There is no better way to protect yourself in this world that is supposedly swarming with rapists, by their accounts. What a gigantic hypocrisy.
Feminists should be some of strongest supporters of gun rights.
lol
ALDI UK. That's interesting.
Yeah, I agree with that. They're called the great equalizer for a reason. All these women talking about how scared they are to walk down the street? Imagine how scared someone would be to mess with you if every woman in the world carried a handgun.
All that this shows me is that what's really important is to retain VICTIMHOOD STATUS. Because victimhood is far more powerful than being empowered and left to your own devices. If you do not have victimhood, you are on your own - and feminists don't want that.
That is also why they oppose gun ownership, self defense, basic awareness of surroundings, or means to defend yourself. It's not about being safe - it's about using your guise of weakness as a political cudgel.
If women were not engulfed in victimhood, they could never pull shit like Kavanaugh. If they were treated like men, they would be laughed at.
Reverse the gender in any of those stories and just see how absolutely ridiculous they become.
hilariously
With systematic gun and weapon ownership, self defense classes, etc. the strength differential between men and women would matter far less. Feminist and many women don't want that, because it robs them of victimhood.
Men's weakness is their pretense of strength, women's strength is their pretense of weakness.
@Undead Mockingbird funny thing is, they catch this travelling mom, and this clean cut boy with an empty magazine and they're all "we will not apologize for enforcing the law!"
but in NY, the same people _refuse to enforce the law_ when it comes to immigration.
Yes, that kind of hypocrisy drives me mad.
if they can't be arbitrarily lenient about honest mistakes which could not have come as more of a surprise to those making them; surely they can't be lenient about federal law regarding residency.
I mean, seriously
there is sorta a standard in criminal law
I would actually feel safer if women systematically owned guns, because then it would be harder for them to claim victimhood.
"He raped you? Why didn't you shoot him?"
I think everyone should be trained and armed
that having taken all reasonable precautions, and having caused no harm, and having consulted the authorities at every step of the way
more or less should mean that you are not criminally liable
Women's biggest women right now is victimhood. If we could actually put their safety into their hands, where it belongs, men could relax.
It's not even negligence or undue ignorance that got these people
they just could not possibly imagine, even having read the statute, that they would be subject to it.
I keep getting called a misogynist, but I am the first one who would be for arming women.
