The Roosevelt Administration made several strides for black americans and Eleanor Roosevelt was quite outspoken for them. WWII opened up amazing opportunities for blacks, but Jim Crow remained strong.

Also, all (or most) Trumps candidates won, the resisters lost. The republican party is now Trumps party confirmed. Good or bad.

In the 1950's Dems and Repubs both struggled with racism. Eisenhower was very open to black agency and was the first to send in the national guard. Truman earlier had desegregated the military.
