If I fail, maybe I killed a few terrorists and I die a hero.
If I succeed, my family, friends, and home, are all safe, as are many others that the terrorists would've attacked if not for me standing up to them.

And if I accidentally kill an innocent person with a stray shot, I will feel that guilt for the rest of my life, but know that I was doing what was right.

Me personally? I call the police, grab my gun, stand on my property, and tell them if they come onto my property, per my signs of no tresspassing, they will be shot. Because that's perfectly legal and in self-defense. Not going out trying for a war.
