live actions became popular due to the MCU especially. They saw how you could take what was constantly in drawn format, release it (relatively) cheap, and potentially get a runaway hit.
Same as the DCU live action series set that started with Smallville and it's up to... god knows what all is in that now.
So they're trying to grab anything that they knew was popular with the previous generation(s) growing up, especially the odd kick into anime. It's why they keep trying (and failing) to make a dragonball live action movie. And it's always godawful.
