I don't want to talk to my remote to change the channel, I don't want a camera watching the inside of my fridge so I can check on what I need remotely, I have no desire to change the temperature of my home remotely...

@Tykiller try getting a hdmi capable computer monitor (with speakers and audio over hdmi) if size isn't an issue because they work incredibly well and have no smart functions in them
that is what I have atm, hooked to my roku stick. All mounted to the wall directly and it has a miracast function built in
you can hdmi switch it if you need more then 1 device on the monitor as well
or vga/dvi convert from hdmi if you don't want the audio
