Naruto used to be good
Sometimes
Only some fights
Gaara vs Lee was amazing
Naruto, early early, had SOME of this going for it. But it lost it so fast...
as was Gaara vs Naruto..
I especially like how characters learn from their faults and become better
I have a friend who keeps up with Boruto
ya, just finished that one, yesterday
If only for the whole use of "Hey remember this joke attack? Naruto uses it for reals."
Kill him
The main character can't just become super strong, he has to change his tactics
nah, he can, he just fucks his shit up, so kinda reminds me of berserk
and slowly improve his fighting
That is something Naruto somewhat keeps..and half loses even at the end.
I'm talking about deku from MHA btw
not naruto
ya, me too
Like...even after the series went to shit..Naruto still did some real creative shit at the end.
and Deku..
but I hate the whole "You can't ever use your arms else they will be damaged foreverz"
I -hate- that Trope in Shonen
huh?
It was dumb in Naruto, it was Dumb in One Piece
that's not what was said though
It is dumb in MHA
he can use his arms, he just can't trash his arms a bunch more times
I thought the Deku arc of realizing that he needs to find a different way to use his power was somewhat interesting. It showed that the power really is too much for him, and if he ever gained full control over it, he'd be literally as strong as All Might, but that's why he can't use it at full power, his body simply isn't able to cope. The post-tournament of having screwed up his hands by overusing it acting as a grounding for him, directly leading to him meeting All Might's mentor and then changing his entire idea of how he uses his powers, acted as a good transition.
That way he didn't just "oh, I can use my power now, haha.", instead it showed that he really had been using it kind of stupidly and he needed to evolve as a character. While also giving him a HUGE power upgrade personally, while at the same time continuing to keep this feel of "You're only using like 5% of what you got. Better keep at it, kid."
I don't think he screwed up at all. Dr Manhattan's power necessarily makes him a political pawn, and by extension those he cared about would also become pawns. Add to that his growing distance from humanity just due to lack of basic commonality and it all makes perfect sense
If they KEEP breaking his limbs over and over now that he's gotten his new upgrade... then yeah, it's just shitty writing and screw them for ignoring all of his progress.
I haven't seen beyond the hero killer arc
But as long as they have him stop doing that and move the plot forward from there, it was well done.
1000000%
that's a major hiccup a lot of these shows fail at doing. When the hero learns some new thing, then completely forgets it or stops using their new tactic or whatever, just because "Well we wanted to have him do the old thing again for DRAMA"
ya, don't go 1000000%...
arms will be fine.
If he actually learned and got better, then those earlier injuries to himself MEANT something.
If he learned nothing... then the show officially took a turn straight down the shitter.
... That's not to say he can't... say in a dangerous situation, when he's in over his head and things are balls to the wall at their worst, he can't break his vow and go to All Might power for a desperation move... but only if they use it in like... the ultimate final battle. Once. not constantly like they'd been doing up to that point.
Eh I just think they could have done all of that..by having them focus on the fact his destroying his arms meant he wasn't able to help Bakugo more and not just the whole "Well you have 3 more big smashes in the tank."
like, him putting himself out of the action was cool, I just feel the "Oh you got 3 more hits for the rest of the series" is meh.
eh... you're either talking about something I haven't seen, or we've interpreted it differently.
