Did you have a choice in the matter?
and what does that even mean
It's a simple decision.
you know, it is possible to both think that abusers should be criminally punished and also think that a person who stay in that relation long after releasing it was bad also needs to accept responsibility for the length of time they were abused .
I already answered you, three times. That is the difference between children and adults.
because, you know, the world isn't black and white
Yeah and I have said this, sure they are to blame
but how much?
Fool me once, shame on you.
Ill repeat what I said a bit ago
and who is legally responsible?
"There's at least two arguments, while yes woman do get benefits not all woman are getting them and hell some are probably ignorant than others. And while yes there's times a victim should have acted. However its not as simple as you may think it could be at times. And if there's evidence I think it should be with the courts but if its way long in time then we can't help that victim now."
and I agree wholeheartedly blackcat
You know, the two things are not mutually exclusive
but undead can not
The Abuser is wrong for abusing, but the abused is also wrong for staying past the first abuse.
i don't think there was any call for legal action against the victim? except in divorce court where there might be an argument to be made that the victim should not be entitled to everything they ask for.
The point I made was that women are given choices up the wazoo to leave relationships.
Yes or no?
social action in the sense of not dating them, or not just accepting them as victim 100% when its clear they should have left way sooner than they did
Then they shouldnt be given those things @Undead Mockingbird ?
i.e. not believing their sob story when its clearly if it was 100% the abusers fault, they should have tried leaving long before
If she - or HE - is truly coerced, then the person doing the coercion is culpable.
codes, that question misses the point entirely
they have the options, they should use them
If she runs back to him for the third time, then it's like a drowning victim that keeps jumping back into the pool.
What do you want me to say?
not at all, it displays the problem with his thinking
your response should be what if they don't know about those options
It's precisely those situations that we make most excuses. We have all kinds of expressions like "emotional abuse" and go to the point of allowing women to MURDER their husbands in their sleep.
Women have all the social and legal protections they need - and then some.
and they shouldnt?
Stop making excuses for women - or any adults - who had a choice in the matter.
or maybe should those same protections apply to men too
If they chose it, hold them accountable.
in what way undead?
cause see, my belief is the former, but in reality it is not that way
If someone is stupid enough to jump into a lake without being able to swim, you can drag them out, but don't pretend like they didn't have a choice in the matter.
@Undead Mockingbird held accountable legally?
See, grenade, your starting to see the problem with his thinking
Not everyone can think RATIONALLY over things like this
Wait, being held accountable is a problem?
