Some Armies like Britain, required it as a rule that to be a soldier you had to have facial hair, WW1 changed that.

So what happened to those who couldn't grow facial hair?

Well, for white people you will grow some, it didn't have to be alot.

And ethnics that dont grow much hair like Asian's, they didnt really exist at all in old Britain, it was almost 100% white.
