Can I float something by you folks? My freinds get two cats a pets, they call the Popcorn and Peanut like the food items, am I the only one concerned about this?

Call them something else entirely then

They’ll respond to multiple names

Or give more pets when you call them by the name you want for them

Then they’ll associate it as better

The labels from the rescue center was Penelope and Audrey so that's what I call them. I mean if I am keeping an animal for food, yeah sure give them a food name, if they are pets, pet names

Maybe you just don’t feel they should change, I agree with you though about that

Just keep calling them what you want and if they respond better to those names your friends might actually make the connection

I’ve given cats popcorn before, not peanut butter though.

If they wanted to give the cats pet names like Baby, Princess, Red, Sparky or something else I am fine with that too.

If I say no to a cat named no they’re going to think pats

And if you train the cat something else is the "Negative" then they will respond to that. Which means visitors will be confused as hell.
