indeed, i dont see myself tied to this nation or the west in general

2018-12-30 16:36:58 UTC

I'm a bit more tied, but it's less my job than it is my treasury of the basic ideals of america

2018-12-30 16:37:32 UTC

honestly, I REALLY want to see an internet bill of rights

2018-12-30 16:37:59 UTC

or something that will allow companies based in america to not censor america automatically

2018-12-30 16:38:39 UTC

I don't mind people building censorship filter options into their services, but no information should be eradicated or disbarred

2018-12-30 16:38:49 UTC

hell, that whole thing with the bomber who was on gab?

2018-12-30 16:38:58 UTC

they found him by backtracking gab

2018-12-30 16:39:05 UTC

that information was useful

2018-12-30 16:40:32 UTC

I can understand the sentiment behind desires to censor stuff, but that's unamerican. IMHO, giving INDIVIDUALs control over what they view is an infinitely better option than allowing a corporate autocracy to do it.

2018-12-30 16:41:07 UTC

I never trust faceless organizations, and it's pretty plain that they're in a cartel at this point.

2018-12-30 16:42:08 UTC

woo

2018-12-30 16:56:09 UTC

But these companies have a fiduciary duty to thier shareholders to care about PR. The last thing they can afford based on that duty is to be associated with someone who carries out a terror attack, especially if any element of it including thier diatribes were performed using thier venue.

2018-12-30 16:57:03 UTC

The shareholders xd

2018-12-30 16:57:04 UTC

Unless you want a government sponsored venue, any private mass venue will have this challenge.

2018-12-30 16:57:44 UTC

Yeah, like the people who collectively own the company. :P

2018-12-30 16:58:11 UTC

People who want to make a return on thier investment.

2018-12-30 16:58:18 UTC

Capitalists

2018-12-30 16:59:34 UTC

Which is not a bad word. I'm.a capitalist and I have no shame about it. Properly regulated, capitalism is the best market dynamic humanity has yet developed.

2018-12-30 17:00:46 UTC

To paraphrase my hero, Winston Churchill, "capitalism is the worst market mechanic, aside from everything else that has been concieved or tried."

2018-12-30 17:01:38 UTC

I am a capitalist too, who isn't here. Doesn't mean you need to defend all aspects of it. Shareholders are kind of a parasite imo.

2018-12-30 17:02:02 UTC

Huh? They're the owners of a public company.

2018-12-30 17:02:28 UTC

They are a way for a company to gain capital.

2018-12-30 17:02:54 UTC

By selling itself

2018-12-30 17:02:54 UTC

But in large corporations it is them who ruin my video games

It's not free money. Shareholder investment means each share is a stake in the company. Obviously there are differences in shares, but they still own it.

Ya, and now my game is dead

2018-12-30 17:05:19 UTC

But as I've said, I'm not sure there is a way to succeed nowadays. Or at least a way to thrive.

2018-12-30 17:06:13 UTC

The market will become more focesed and balkanized. Fewer mass marketed games. And I don't think that's a bad thing.
