I believe that both extremes must exist and be in healthly peaceful debate with each other and that any system that leans to heavily to any single idea will inevitably crawl up it's own ass to die (along with a lot of it's former citizens in their mass graves)

that actually raises some interesting questions

there would be a society to worry about then. You are forming one of two echo chambers. Either complete anarchy would rule with warlords, or there would be a systematic dstruction as indiviuals are crushed under a authoratarian rule
