2019-01-20 14:03:43 UTC

Every fucking thread is full of people blaming only the kids

2019-01-20 14:04:47 UTC

*sigh*

2019-01-20 14:24:18 UTC

I haven't been paying attention. What is it precisely that this kid is accused of doing?

2019-01-20 14:25:13 UTC

harassing a Native American war veteran

2019-01-20 14:25:17 UTC

Open carry of an Assault smile

2019-01-20 14:25:23 UTC

Harassing how?

2019-01-20 14:25:27 UTC

also shouting homophobic slurs

2019-01-20 14:25:42 UTC

well, not him specifically, but the people with him (for the slurs)

2019-01-20 14:25:51 UTC

harassing by standing there smirking

2019-01-20 14:25:51 UTC

By standing his ground with a smile when the man with the drum invaded his personal space.

2019-01-20 14:26:08 UTC

Weren't those the people they were arguing with before the old guy came along @yearspastmatter

2019-01-20 14:26:14 UTC

A smile becomes a smirk or a jeer when it's convenient for those who report it.

2019-01-20 14:26:17 UTC

The black hebrew guys

2019-01-20 14:26:21 UTC

Yes

2019-01-20 14:26:36 UTC

They weren't even related to the kids wtf

2019-01-20 14:26:41 UTC

Why is it that whenever something that's promoted as "progressive" fails, leftists automatically blame Trump and right wingers?

2019-01-20 14:26:56 UTC

Because media reaction

2019-01-20 14:27:04 UTC

The news media, reddit, etc. are basing their views on a clip that's 2:20 long, and even with that, I don't know how they're getting their stance

2019-01-20 14:27:11 UTC

full video is about 9:30 in length

2019-01-20 14:27:13 UTC

*cough* Ghostbusters 2016/3 *cough*

2019-01-20 14:27:37 UTC

and clearly shows the narrative is not only 100% wrong, but that the reverse is true

2019-01-20 14:27:40 UTC

Because they believe they are morally right, therefore they cannot be the reason for their failure.

2019-01-20 14:28:21 UTC

No one will print " Leslie Jones doesn't like Ghostbusters 3"
Everybody prints "Leslie Jones compares Ghostbusters 3 to Trump"

2019-01-20 14:29:06 UTC

It comes down to keywords and search engine optimization. the former article will get a quarter of a quarter of the views the latter article will get

2019-01-20 14:29:54 UTC

So if you compare something to drumpf or MAGA or whatever, more people will propogate it because it's profitable

2019-01-20 14:31:19 UTC

And *of course* when something "progressive" fails and another part of that franchise services the fans like it should've done, leftists blame toxic fandom.

2019-01-20 14:31:55 UTC

I think I should write an article about why I think "Go Woke, Get Broke" is wrong

2019-01-20 14:32:55 UTC

Because it misses what actually is happening. None or very few people in an industry care about politics or the culture war or diversity and all that

2019-01-20 14:33:27 UTC

They care about selling stuff, and to sell the product you need advertisements, positive ones

2019-01-20 14:33:53 UTC

Now, say you know the product is bad, and you cannot promote it by it's objective merits

2019-01-20 14:34:50 UTC

So you promote it in the name of diversity and progressive politics (Battlefield 5, ghostbusters)

2019-01-20 14:35:22 UTC

That makes fans angry, and what makes fans angry is picked up by mainstream outlets like polygon

2019-01-20 14:35:41 UTC

so the game gets famous and people buy a lot

2019-01-20 14:36:01 UTC

However, the audience soon finds that the product itself is just terrible

2019-01-20 14:36:11 UTC

and boom, sales drop

2019-01-20 14:38:57 UTC

This is why comics like Border Town and Iceman have great sales on issue 1, and then completely fail

2019-01-20 14:49:27 UTC

Maybe someone commenting recently on the topic in here can drop some knowledge and confirm this for me...it seems that, in summary, this incident with the group of high schoolers is a case where intentional misrepresentations are being made to construct a narrative favorable to one party, and even though video and disccussions from some the folks present can be found contending otherwise, partisan ranker against the youngsters is leading to more false representations?
