he's as eccentric as it gets

2019-01-30 18:10:51 UTC

He is also one of those taxes are illegal people

2019-01-30 18:11:05 UTC

yes, taxation is theft

2019-01-30 18:11:17 UTC

nothing wrong about that

2019-01-30 18:11:33 UTC

car tax is real theft.

2019-01-30 18:11:46 UTC

Taxation is not theft

2019-01-30 18:11:46 UTC

a Stinger GT costs 50 grand at most USD

2019-01-30 18:11:49 UTC

all taxation is theft

2019-01-30 18:11:53 UTC

here it costs 150K

2019-01-30 18:11:55 UTC

Taxation is part of the social contract

2019-01-30 18:11:58 UTC

THIS IS FUCKING THEFT

2019-01-30 18:12:01 UTC

In VA I have to pay 10% of my vehicle's value twice a year

2019-01-30 18:12:07 UTC

200% tax

2019-01-30 18:12:08 UTC

jesus

2019-01-30 18:12:10 UTC

At least it depreciates

2019-01-30 18:12:44 UTC

the social contract is a collectivist concept, though

2019-01-30 18:13:02 UTC

But yeah I got a bill after I bought my car a few years ago and it was from the state saying "hey, you owe us $300, and in 6 months, you'll owe us another $290"

2019-01-30 18:13:21 UTC

and if you don't pay, bye bye car, or jail

2019-01-30 18:13:24 UTC

No

2019-01-30 18:13:42 UTC

If I don't pay it, I don't pay it...but I can't renew my registration without paying

2019-01-30 18:13:44 UTC

You should do a bunch of cosmetic damage to your car to lower the value.

2019-01-30 18:13:47 UTC

it's almost like demanding money under the threat of violence

2019-01-30 18:14:03 UTC

benji boy knows what's up

2019-01-30 18:14:05 UTC

@Benjamin it doesn't matter what condition it's in, it goes by like KBB average I believe

2019-01-30 18:14:11 UTC

Lame.

2019-01-30 18:14:15 UTC

sad

2019-01-30 18:14:39 UTC

Yeah...so last time I renewed my registration I did it for two years, so in theory I could just not pay any of it and pay a lump sum when I need to renew

2019-01-30 18:15:43 UTC

I honestly don't have a big problem with taxes, I get that the government needs money to function, but I feel like if we got rid of all of the pointless spending, taxes would be able to be lowered.

2019-01-30 18:16:44 UTC

my opposition to taxation is on ethical grounds, so there's no much need in arguing utilitarist points and so on

2019-01-30 18:18:18 UTC

I think the fact that everyone pays taxes means that, for example, I should never see a road and go "fuck, I really don't want to drive down there because there are pot holes big enough that I've popped a tire." Shit like that should not be an issue.

2019-01-30 18:19:02 UTC

And yet there are highways in MD that make me feel like I'm playing Frogger with my wheels and potholes

2019-01-30 18:19:08 UTC

exactly

2019-01-30 18:19:43 UTC

decentralizing the management of pathways would make it easier to well, manage them

2019-01-30 18:19:56 UTC

even the centralization on municipal level is problematic

2019-01-30 18:20:02 UTC

too bureaucratic

2019-01-30 18:20:40 UTC

My thing is I don't care who gets it done, but my tax money is supposed to go to shit like that. It clearly isn't, so something is wrong.

2019-01-30 18:21:22 UTC

...and then now that I think about it, what usually happens is the local government contracts a company to fix it, and probably overpays like crazy.

2019-01-30 18:21:25 UTC

sometimes i think its better if people just fix the roads themselves and make the govt reimburse them

2019-01-30 18:21:29 UTC

that way its faster

2019-01-30 18:21:31 UTC

lol

2019-01-30 18:21:33 UTC

Probably
