as long as it's animated

2019-02-08 04:33:55 UTC

nah, I'm waiting for the mass suicides once twitter echo chambers come to their end state: full blown cultism

2019-02-08 04:34:17 UTC

That'll be a show

2019-02-08 04:34:36 UTC

Rest in peace congressman

2019-02-08 04:36:13 UTC

seriously, SJW social media sites are like cults, only that the cult leader is the decentralized but unified doctrine of intersectionality and victimhood, and the whole system is self-policing. Do a wrongthink and you are attacked, and either have to bend the knee and prostrate yourself to the group for a long time, or you're excommunicated by threat of violence

2019-02-08 04:36:55 UTC

Remember the old politician's prayer. God grant us health and strength. We'll steal the rest.

2019-02-08 04:37:17 UTC

For reals, if you know people who are heavy on the SJW social media, be fucking afraid of them, because next election, they're gonna go apeshit and start killing if things don't start turning around soon

2019-02-08 04:38:03 UTC

Covington could have been a turning point to de-escalate the madness

2019-02-08 04:38:05 UTC

@Tinytim Never underestimate the power of the mob. They've executed kings and queens, czars and ministers. They'd not hesitate to murder someone as insignificant as you.

2019-02-08 04:38:27 UTC

@CasualSailor where's that from?

2019-02-08 04:38:32 UTC

Me.

2019-02-08 04:39:09 UTC

lucky me, I live in Norway, so I can just watch the world go to shit

2019-02-08 04:39:35 UTC

What's your sales tax in Norway?

2019-02-08 04:39:35 UTC

but you all seem cool, so wanna spread my warning. Seriously, start comparing the social media bubbles to cults. It's scary af

2019-02-08 04:39:54 UTC

I think it varies between 20 to 40%, except cars, which is crazy high

2019-02-08 04:40:31 UTC

25% is the common one

2019-02-08 04:40:39 UTC

Americans who like to point to Norway and Denmark as idealistic do not understand that. Our sales taxes are ~7%-10%.

2019-02-08 04:40:39 UTC

@Timcast How do you celebrate the Lunar New Year? I'm curious. I NEVER celebrated it before.

2019-02-08 04:41:11 UTC

Denmark has a 180% tax on automobiles?

2019-02-08 04:41:21 UTC

People are greedy, thus they go to where ever things are free or cheap.

2019-02-08 04:41:29 UTC

They don't understand why things are cheap.

2019-02-08 04:41:32 UTC

15% for food, 12% for hotels

2019-02-08 04:41:45 UTC

@CasualSailor I won't underestimate their tendency to splinter and turn on each other like a pack of starving cannibals either

2019-02-08 04:42:10 UTC

Norway is worse on cars, but we have low taxes on electric cars to encourage people to buy those instead

2019-02-08 04:42:19 UTC

so, Norway has the most teslas per capita in the world

2019-02-08 04:42:24 UTC

@Dusty Morgan Nothing is really free. And as Robt Heinlein said, nothing given for free has any value.

2019-02-08 04:42:37 UTC

Anyway, I like to call Norway social capitalist

2019-02-08 04:42:48 UTC

Social democracy

2019-02-08 04:42:53 UTC

It's what that's called

2019-02-08 04:43:05 UTC

Same with Canada, Denmark, Sweden, Germany

2019-02-08 04:43:17 UTC

yeah, but it has gotten ruined by bernie not having the galls to actually explain it to the US properly

2019-02-08 04:43:39 UTC

Yeah but then he'd lose socialist support

2019-02-08 04:43:45 UTC

bernie pushed venazuela as his utopia @Tinytim

2019-02-08 04:44:01 UTC

I feel that social capitalism is better, because we want capitalism to produce as much as it can, but where there are externalities we need the government

2019-02-08 04:44:08 UTC

Bernie is a socialist, but he wants American to be a social democracy

2019-02-08 04:44:12 UTC

@Misomania The problem with identity politics is that you can keep fracturing groups of people into smaller and smaller groups based upon their subtle differences until you eventually arrive at a group of ONE. The individual. And that is what Western culture figured out hundreds of years ago. That is why in the West the individual is sovereign.

2019-02-08 04:44:14 UTC

@CasualSailor Exactly. Nothing is ever truly free except for oxygen. :\
