I made the app, though.
Imagine seeing like 30 big conservatives start using it and ur like wth
And you can configure any password you like.
and then linked it, not encrypted, in a chat.
If the password gets compromised you can just switch to a new one.
Right, I linked it. It's plain source.
this seems pointless
As long as you change the password, anything can only be read with that password.
You would have to publish the password somewhere else. I can also use PGP to encrypt on the fly.
This way you can secure chat rooms, though. But of course you need to exchange the password off platform.
The secret needs to be exchanged off platform. That's the only limitation.
Or you can negotiate it by talking about something only that group knows.
or you could just make a simple peer to peer app with that encryption
Yes, but then you don't have access to the social media platforms.
You can always build your own platform, but this way you can be on Facebook and nobody can read what you post.
why are you having these conversations on the platforms when you can have them off the platforms where you sent the password
You can also plug it into Twitter.
do you guys think we live in a dimension?
no we live in no dimension
why even expose the risk if you are that concerned
what's it like to imagine?

oops
unrelated note, did you know that if you made an encryption algorithm, then released it onto the internet for free and live in the US, you'd be guilty of federal crime akin to weapons trafficking?
I think the export regulations have changed.
ANd it depends on the encryption strength.
algo is not new
Yes, but I think grenade was asking a hypothetical question.
I'm just using AES from a library, which is why the source code for this toy plugin is only like 100 lines of code.
not a hypothetical. a dude was literally arrested for doing that.
🤔 can you send me article
he made a new strong encryption algorithm and released it on the internet
It's 40 lines of code.
we didn't spend a line of code on encryption
we are just using some standard library to do the same encryption your browser uses everyday
ye
Now don't be a killjoy and let's all troll some discord servers.
how about joe rogan discord
