All it takes is for somebody to feel like they're stupid in order for them to play along with something that's a lot bigger than their minds are capable of comprehending. There are two mainstream narratives going on right now... One says that the coronavirus is so horrible everyone's going to die, and the other says that it's not something that anyone needs to worry about and you're going to be fine.
There's a difference between science and scientism. Following the mainstream doctrine blindly is scientism. believing that you came from a monkey without having any evidence in the fossil record of there being any ancestors to the human line... Scientism. The sheer amount of missing links between all life-forms is astronomical. There's absolutely no evidence of macro-evolution. All studies of micro-evolution prove that genetic matter is lost with each adaptation.
