games are getting more and more complex if anything
Just look at Bethesda
simple games = easier production
Pac Man and Astroids were definitely more infantile and simple compared to what we have
also hard games don't sell
Or Hoi4 vs Hoi3
Design by committee. It's AGILE
Daggerfall is infinitely more complex than anything made nowadays despite being made in 1996
Damn, reminds me of the complexity of Victoria 2.
Pokemon back in 1996 only had 4 people working on red and blue
Also, Doom is unironically better designed than most FPS games nowadays, at least in single player
Because once homies complete a game they fire the developers every time
Perhaps simpler regarding what it should be in relation to technological expansion. But not simpler in and of itself.
I agree with Mylex
I mean. More complex doesn't always mean better. I usually play rpgs and all that.

This video called it
But streamlined with choices plenty of inpactful choices is usually the way to go in my opinion.
A lot of us are casual gamers now
I though skyrim's from a gameplay view was much better.
you could make absolutely OP Spells
I didnt play morrowind. So I cant disagree.
I think dragon age is a pretty good example.
In Morrowind, many areas required Levitation to progress
In my opinion inquisitions combat was pretty good.
the story was way more fun in Oblivion.
the only real improvement in Skyrim was the story
At least I heard
err
combat
is the ability to make OP spells a good thing inherently? that feels like you just *like* being able to make overpowered spells
It's more profit > creativity now
@ππππππ Well, not really. Morrowind did other things that were good
your actions had consequences
there were different factions
that were mutually exclusive
it was harder
more spell diversity and spell customization is a good thing imo
