I don’t think it is

2020-03-15 16:15:08 UTC

It's preditory Capitalism at its finest

2020-03-15 16:15:13 UTC

simple games are easier to produce, there is also an influx of soyboys that grew up on simple NES games who can't really work complex games that are now entering the industry.

2020-03-15 16:15:14 UTC

Yeah, it really isn’t

2020-03-15 16:15:17 UTC

@Joywolf I disagree.

2020-03-15 16:15:17 UTC

games are getting more and more complex if anything

2020-03-15 16:15:26 UTC

Just look at Bethesda

2020-03-15 16:15:27 UTC

simple games = easier production

2020-03-15 16:15:29 UTC

Pac Man and Astroids were definitely more infantile and simple compared to what we have

2020-03-15 16:15:29 UTC

also hard games don't sell

2020-03-15 16:15:31 UTC

@21ooAB ok you can do that i don’t care

2020-03-15 16:15:32 UTC

Or Hoi4 vs Hoi3

2020-03-15 16:15:46 UTC

Design by committee. It's AGILE

2020-03-15 16:15:54 UTC

Daggerfall is infinitely more complex than anything made nowadays despite being made in 1996

2020-03-15 16:15:58 UTC

Damn, reminds me of the complexity of Victoria 2.

2020-03-15 16:16:20 UTC

Pokemon back in 1996 only had 4 people working on red and blue

2020-03-15 16:16:34 UTC

Also, Doom is unironically better designed than most FPS games nowadays, at least in single player

2020-03-15 16:16:36 UTC

Because once homies complete a game they fire the developers every time

2020-03-15 16:16:37 UTC

Perhaps simpler regarding what it should be in relation to technological expansion. But not simpler in and of itself.

2020-03-15 16:17:19 UTC

I agree with Mylex

2020-03-15 16:17:23 UTC

I mean. More complex doesn't always mean better. I usually play rpgs and all that.

This video called it

2020-03-15 16:17:53 UTC

But streamlined with choices plenty of inpactful choices is usually the way to go in my opinion.

2020-03-15 16:18:07 UTC

A lot of us are casual gamers now

2020-03-15 16:18:18 UTC

I'm probably in the minority. But I hated the magic system in oblivion.

2020-03-15 16:18:29 UTC

I though skyrim's from a gameplay view was much better.

2020-03-15 16:18:30 UTC

@Memovita The magic system in Morrowind was better

2020-03-15 16:18:39 UTC

you could make absolutely OP Spells

2020-03-15 16:18:47 UTC

I didnt play morrowind. So I cant disagree.

2020-03-15 16:18:59 UTC

I think dragon age is a pretty good example.

2020-03-15 16:19:03 UTC

In Morrowind, many areas required Levitation to progress

2020-03-15 16:19:12 UTC

@Memovita Yes, Origins was way better than Dragon Age II

2020-03-15 16:19:13 UTC

In my opinion inquisitions combat was pretty good.

2020-03-15 16:19:15 UTC

the story was way more fun in Oblivion.
the only real improvement in Skyrim was the story

2020-03-15 16:19:17 UTC

At least I heard

2020-03-15 16:19:17 UTC

err

2020-03-15 16:19:19 UTC

combat

is the ability to make OP spells a good thing inherently? that feels like you just *like* being able to make overpowered spells

2020-03-15 16:19:40 UTC

It's more profit > creativity now

2020-03-15 16:19:50 UTC

@π–ƒπ–†π–›π–Žπ–Šπ–— Well, not really. Morrowind did other things that were good

2020-03-15 16:19:53 UTC

your actions had consequences
