The latter won and he ruled for a bit.
His son, John V was pathetic
A spineless ruler who completely lost territory around the empire
He didn’t know when to give up
Eventually he died of a nervous breakdown after a series of humiliating defeats.
His successors had very little territory. Manuel II Palaiologos held onto them for 25 years.
John VIII Palaiologos made some gains but lost them in the end
And in 1453, Constantine XI Dragases Palaiologos led the Byzantine into a final charge against Sultan Mehmet II of the ottomans.
He died, and the light of rome was extinguished.
That’s the end of the story.
I recapped the entire history of rome from 193 AD to 1453 AD.
Oh and
Regarding the great schism
Not much to talk about, the latin west divided with the greek east in 1054
The west was Catholic, the east was Orthodox
It was mostly political based and ecclesiastical
Nothing too big
Only catch is that I could’ve been just Christian instead of Orthodox if it hadn’t happened.
Ping me if you have questions about the mega long history recap I just did

Autism means cognitive impairment or lack of theresuch
I’ve tested negative for any cognitive disability
The only possible thing I may have is a super non prominent form of Hyperthymesia- which is a biographical memory.
