king

2020-02-03 22:20:43 UTC

Why not just not use a phone if you're an abbot

2020-02-03 22:21:01 UTC

i think this is a joke

2020-02-03 22:21:13 UTC

some abbots have social media accounts

2020-02-03 22:22:49 UTC

I've been looking into monasticism recently

2020-02-03 22:22:55 UTC

Monks are kings tbh

2020-02-03 22:23:17 UTC

i always look into it but fuck me man i'm a sinner to the core

2020-02-03 22:23:20 UTC

i couldn't handle it

2020-02-03 22:23:57 UTC

I'm not going to become a monk but I find it very interesting

2020-02-03 22:24:32 UTC
2020-02-03 22:24:37 UTC

2 bad ur not ortho 😔

2020-02-03 22:26:30 UTC

I'm also a big fan of John Chrisostym, marriage can be just as holy as monasticism

2020-02-03 22:26:47 UTC

*Chrisostom

2020-02-03 22:26:55 UTC

means gold-mouthed

2020-02-03 22:27:51 UTC

Correct

2020-02-03 22:28:19 UTC

my favorite saints gotta be peter and patrick

2020-02-03 22:28:38 UTC

when peter renounces christ thrice and then cries, that's gotta be the saddest part of the gospel for me

2020-02-03 22:28:46 UTC

i get legit emotional every time i read that

2020-02-03 22:30:31 UTC

I broke down crying once when I realized I was being immoral, I legit thought I would die of guilt. I usually feel regret in a non involved way but that was an incredible experience. If I always could bring myself to feel that way I would never sin.

2020-02-03 22:31:08 UTC

i've been very immoral the past few days

2020-02-03 22:31:12 UTC

i usually am in general

2020-02-03 22:31:25 UTC

gluttony is one of the most dangerous sins

2020-02-03 22:32:00 UTC

i had a period of ascetism where i did't eat anything but bread and water for days

2020-02-03 22:32:08 UTC

and let me tell you it's like demons can't even touch you

2020-02-03 22:32:13 UTC

no sexual urges no nothing

2020-02-03 22:32:28 UTC

I'd try that if people didn't force me to eat

2020-02-03 22:32:57 UTC

But I've been a practicer of self induced suffering

2020-02-03 22:33:19 UTC

Nothing that would desecrate my body that God gave me of course

2020-02-03 22:34:10 UTC

I find the Philippines do fascinating, they'll go as far as crucifying themselves to bring themselves closer to Christ, because when we suffer we know what God was going through, and it brings us closer.

2020-02-03 22:36:08 UTC

Woah

2020-02-03 22:36:23 UTC

really?

2020-02-03 22:37:30 UTC

```Passion of the Philippines – As Christians around the world celebrate Easter, religious fanatics in the Philippines commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ with extreme acts of penitence. They flog themselves with wooden whips and some are nailed to the cross to atone for their sins.```
2020-02-03 22:39:14 UTC
but they don't die, right?
2020-02-03 22:40:33 UTC
If your not ortho get up out my trap house!
2020-02-03 22:42:30 UTC
They don't die, there's a man who did it 32 years in a row. It's also denounced by the church, but I respect their spirit and fervor greatly
2020-02-03 22:51:14 UTC
i've been kind of analyzing hesychasm now and i don't see what the massive issue that you have with it
2020-02-03 23:00:15 UTC
Palamism creates a composition in God and leads to polytheism
2020-02-03 23:15:24 UTC
It also contradicts the immutability of God
2020-02-03 23:16:31 UTC
how does the energy-essence distinction lead to polytheism and how does it contradict the immutability of God?
2020-02-03 23:18:56 UTC
Palamas thought that God's energies were distinct from his essence, and not only were they distinct by relations like the trinity, they were entirely distinct, and God was composed, which is unacceptable. Further he taught that the energies had a beginning, and thus God changed.
2020-02-03 23:19:42 UTC
the energies are God's actions
