<@&588707615643795456> Daily Questionโœ๏ธ

- Should extra-biblical texts be considered? That is other works not included in the Bible and/or canon. Example would be the book of Enoch or Jasher. Should they be tossed out? Examined? Believed? This also doesnโ€™t just apply to Christianity but other religions.

I don't see any benefit to not knowing what's in a book

probably for greater context, sure

2020-03-04 20:50:02 UTC

The bible is not the sole authority on christianity

2020-03-04 20:50:31 UTC

Donno about that statement

2020-03-04 20:51:17 UTC

The Dead Sea scrolls tho

2020-03-04 20:51:25 UTC

To an extent god is the ultimate authority

2020-03-04 20:51:34 UTC

Donno about those

2020-03-04 20:52:13 UTC

How can the bible be the sole authority, it was compiled by 12 men

2020-03-04 20:52:25 UTC

The church is an authority

2020-03-04 20:52:43 UTC

No.

2020-03-04 20:52:45 UTC

Who were assigned to do it

2020-03-04 20:52:46 UTC

Simple as.

2020-03-04 20:52:47 UTC

Also no

2020-03-04 20:52:48 UTC

Ultimately, you are your the authority in determining what is true.

2020-03-04 20:52:54 UTC

The church is based on the Bible

2020-03-04 20:53:11 UTC

Don't determine it wrong.

2020-03-04 20:53:20 UTC

The trinity isnt mentioned in the bible, yet the church preaches it as fact

2020-03-04 20:53:44 UTC

Trinity as in the connections?

2020-03-04 20:53:50 UTC

God is said to be life, light and love in passages within the bible. That is a trinity of sorts

2020-03-04 20:54:45 UTC

Yes but it is never explicitly described as the trinity, because it was agreed upon by churchmen

2020-03-04 20:54:53 UTC

God is not just the trinity but the trinity is God.

2020-03-04 20:54:57 UTC

Well yes

2020-03-04 20:55:00 UTC

As a method of understanding the holy spirit

2020-03-04 20:55:13 UTC

The trinity is derived from understanding the Bible and determining the essence of each element

2020-03-04 20:55:47 UTC

Jesus declares himself to be the light, making him satisfy one third of the components of God described within the bible

2020-03-04 20:58:23 UTC

The holy spirit could be life
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/life

2020-03-04 21:06:27 UTC

The trinity makes more sense from the standpoint of kabbalah and the three nothings

2020-03-04 21:22:37 UTC

That's just trying to turn Christianity into Satanism

2020-03-04 21:24:47 UTC

God is being, he is not nothing.

2020-03-04 21:26:18 UTC

"I am", he is in the most simple terms Being

2020-03-04 21:26:34 UTC

If he was privated from being he would be imperfect

2020-03-04 21:26:40 UTC

He would be evil

2020-03-04 21:26:49 UTC

Which is why he is not

2020-03-04 21:27:03 UTC

Negative existence is not the same as being truly* nothing

2020-03-04 21:27:22 UTC

It's actually a high state of potential energy.

2020-03-04 21:27:36 UTC

The negative trinity is: nothing, limitless nothing, and limitless light

2020-03-04 21:27:53 UTC

God has nothing in potential

2020-03-04 21:27:57 UTC

He is purely actual

2020-03-04 21:28:07 UTC

Or else you must argue he is not immutable and such
