<@&588707615643795456> Daily Question 🔖

- What is your basis for believing your holy book/God is true and correct? Why?

2020-03-20 16:23:33 UTC

Because I know it’s the case

2020-03-20 16:23:34 UTC

I have no Holy Book. <:Chad:591182354270257170>

2020-03-20 16:23:41 UTC

25,000+ archaeological digs supporting the historicity of events in the Bible

2020-03-20 16:24:05 UTC

That’s nothing

2020-03-20 16:24:08 UTC

I have faith

2020-03-20 16:25:02 UTC

@Attika I hope so. And for all that I study, I am often gifted the feeling of reassurance to the statements made.

2020-03-20 16:25:34 UTC

Thats a good answer

2020-03-20 16:25:54 UTC

@Attika What is yours?

2020-03-20 16:26:44 UTC

I believe because I have seen his work firsthand

2020-03-20 16:28:12 UTC

@Attika oh a witness to miracles! Do tell.

2020-03-20 16:28:38 UTC

Because many antiquity scholars agree Jesus was a real person, a lot of historicity supporting the Bible, strong case for Apostolic Succession, the many cases of miracles happening relating to the Eucharist, etc.

I watched a woman recover her eyesight after being permanently being blind and then deciding to open her heart and pray. My grandmother was also healed from stage 4 cancer.

2020-03-20 16:29:45 UTC

I also saw a man who destroyed families die after prophesying his own death

2020-03-20 16:35:44 UTC

🤔 fascinating stuff these are.

2020-03-20 17:39:40 UTC

I find that a little truth in all religions worth their salt, like a ghostly fingerprint of a civilization that was ripped apart by a catastrophe

2020-03-20 17:43:30 UTC

If you approach history, science and religion from a syncretic/ perennial perspective the truth will become obvious

2020-03-20 17:46:21 UTC

@peacock faith of what? Sir could u Elaborate <:hyperthink:591182142189338655>

2020-03-20 17:46:56 UTC

@ComradeChaos perennialist gang

2020-03-20 17:48:03 UTC

@Florida Man historical proofs of religious civilizations are one thing, but proofs of its whole credibility is a total other thing, can u elaborate as well?

2020-03-20 18:20:37 UTC

Well, there are copies of the Gospels that date to around the 1st and 2nd Centuries AD, as well as the letters of Paul the Apostle, the Historian Flavius Josephus referring to Christ's execution by Pontus Pilate, as well as the Roman Tacitus who referred the same thing when Nero blamed the Fire of Rome on the Christians

2020-03-20 18:32:42 UTC

The proof there is that early christian writers actually wrote their shit

2020-03-20 18:32:47 UTC

I don't think anyone ever doubted that

2020-03-20 18:33:10 UTC

I actually doubted the resurrection for some time.

2020-03-20 18:33:18 UTC

And it makes sense they would execute someone claiming to be messiah (presumably falsely) and causing trouble.

2020-03-20 18:33:43 UTC

Blaming the fire on christians? Using a scapegoat. doesn't prove christianity any more than Hitler blaming the jews proves judaism

2020-03-20 18:34:36 UTC

Does anyone know any religious philosophy they'd like to share?

2020-03-20 18:40:21 UTC

I'll shoot. One of the philosophies of Mahayana Buddhism is the doctrine of the Ratnagotravibhaga. The world can be seen as an emination of divinity (of the Buddha). Only, despite everything being derived from a divine nature, there are imperfections that manifest "accidentally". Yet, once one is aware of these accidental imperfections part of us eminating from divinity, we can also join in the unity of the divine nature (the Buddha).

2020-03-20 18:54:28 UTC

I've found gnostic and dharmic belief systems like taoism quite enriching.

They have the script for Monty Python's Holy Grail on there. That's legit how I found that site. <:wtf:591182282648190986>

2020-03-20 19:38:39 UTC

Hahahaha I had no idea

2020-03-20 20:17:25 UTC

I think they also have the Life of Brian script there as well, yet I've not been arsed to check lately.

Well about the daily question above
I have been a kind of guy who is open to seek out whats Truth is since i have been a little child being born of an atheist family
All my life so far, i have learned about many religions and have been a apart of each religions
I have been a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Hindu and a New Ager
And there have been times when i felt that there was nothing at all and i fell into Atheism for a while until when a spark of Faith came back but then when i thought deeply about all the Religions i have gotten myself in, i really don't want to be apart of it ever again
That was when i suddenly found Jesus and upon studying Orthodoxy and about this unusual God (that really should need a deconstruction regarding how we call Him) and from multiple studies and completely brainstorming, i came to realize that indeed, Jesus is The Way.

2020-03-21 01:56:23 UTC

Convert to Catholicism though

2020-03-21 01:57:09 UTC

Greek Fire.

2020-03-21 01:57:26 UTC

Are you still Orthodox?

2020-03-21 01:57:41 UTC

No

2020-03-21 01:57:56 UTC

What are you?
