That's where education comes in, and other factors that stop people from the desire of excessive power.

There should be a roof, a limit to the power one can have. When it exceeds the limit, you kill them.

1) if you're not in favor of brainwashing, what are you in favor of?
2) brainwashing is much more effective when the brainwashed are docile and have no institutional power
3) we are simply going to disagree on the impact of education on beliefs. emotional impulse is the biggest predictor of political affiliation for example. there is no wait you are going to educate ambitious people out of their ambition

the biggest problem with education how it currently functions is that its much less concerned with developing the child as a whole through knowledge and guidance and much more concerned with test marks, grades and just "teaching" the child whats necessary for them to secure a job. obviously this is important as well but education should be much more than that
