@OrthoGoat I'm not sure how you can be out of touch so hard but if you want to advertise you don't have to do it through some kind of tv ads or whatever your definition of ads is. Pretty much everyone can start a webpage nowadays and create a free social media marketing campaign. Even more so they can put more money in it to scale it easily. This is the age where everyone can advertise at basically no cost to the large population.
