Not imo...no better than twatter but I'm not a fan of any "social media" prefer forums...starting to warm to discord since I set up my own server to test with

Depends on what style of content you wish to consume. Gab Social, like twatter, is "micro blog" type stuff. But unlike twitter, it has been rejected by the mainstream, which has been a bit of a natural filter for shitty people. It's also much easier to control your own feed and who shows up in it imo.
Apples to apples, gab is better than twatter simply because the core community and people who run the site aren't trying to destroy western civilization.
Objectively though, that form of info consumtion isn't for everyone.
