nice

2020-02-28 07:08:25 UTC

The Germans have a long history with border gore.

2020-02-28 15:39:31 UTC

Do you ever plan to kill a pc? I ask because we are almost at level 6 with only one character having a near death experience

2020-02-28 16:06:12 UTC

planning to kill a PC is fine if it's for a specific plot reason and you give them a chance to evade death

2020-02-28 16:06:25 UTC

but otherwise encounters should be challenging enough that death is a reality

2020-02-28 16:40:45 UTC

No. I just make the game even more dangerous so they can make those experiences themselves. <:GWcorbinTopKek:384871333705678868> @wrath

In that case what would you throw at 4 level 5s? They basically are in the process of splitting the party to 2 different factions faction A gave them a mission to assassinate the leader of faction B 2 party members snuck off and took the mission and the other 2 buddied up with leader of Faction B next session is them starting in a Capitol tho

2020-02-28 18:13:18 UTC

What I would throw? Whatever fits the story and region!

2020-02-28 18:13:20 UTC

Fuck balance!

2020-02-28 18:13:44 UTC

I will throw an adult red dragon at a level 4 party. if they are dumb enough to fight it thats on them.

2020-02-28 18:14:14 UTC

Always reward your players for thinking outside the box

2020-02-28 18:14:26 UTC

And make the encounters however you please

2020-02-28 18:16:09 UTC

Lmao I generally try to keep it too safe then lmao

2020-02-28 18:17:17 UTC

Yes. Dont do that. You'll make players who dont understand that death is very much a possibility.

2020-02-28 18:17:32 UTC

Always keep in mind how many encounters they will have in a day!

2020-02-28 18:17:59 UTC

If they will have multiple combats in a day; dont make them lose 80% of their HP, spellslots, and abilities in the first one.

2020-02-28 18:30:42 UTC

Yeah I generally do good on the draining combat but I definitely need to start trying to kill them haha

2020-02-28 18:37:34 UTC

trust me your players will always find a way!

2020-02-28 18:37:44 UTC

thats the good part!

2020-02-28 18:37:55 UTC

its more fun when players know there are stakes when they play

2020-02-28 22:00:16 UTC

the trick is not trying to kill them

2020-02-28 22:00:24 UTC

but presenting them with very real threats

2020-02-28 22:00:45 UTC

are you playing 5e @wrath

2020-02-28 22:01:05 UTC

exactly

2020-02-28 22:01:45 UTC

in pathfinder they have "advanced templates"

2020-02-28 22:02:06 UTC

which is basically a predetermined set of adjustments that you can just drop on a mob

2020-02-28 22:02:43 UTC

It's basically +4 to all stats lmao

2020-02-28 22:02:48 UTC

yeah lol

2020-02-28 22:03:05 UTC

it makes encounters more challenging without having to think real hard

2020-02-28 22:03:16 UTC

or simply ` +2 on all rolls (including damage rolls) and special ability DCs; +4 to AC and CMD; +2 hp/HD.`

2020-02-28 22:03:29 UTC

simple enough for a 5e player

2020-02-28 22:04:33 UTC

we had a tpk last session because a creature was just too fuckin tough lol

2020-02-28 22:05:01 UTC

didn't you live?

2020-02-28 22:09:54 UTC

not really

2020-02-29 00:22:09 UTC

Yeah I'm playing 5e @Dust

2020-02-29 02:53:21 UTC

Ty tho I think I have a decent idea

2020-03-05 10:48:40 UTC

@galesteppes @Dust Ideas for campaigns? Currently am planning a multitude of ideas for a campaign so I can let my players choose what to play. I got around 4 ideas to let them choose between

2020-03-05 10:56:28 UTC

make them choose in game

2020-03-05 10:56:44 UTC

their party gets approached by three people
