nor am I opposed to a lower one

2019-01-12 19:57:46 UTC

but opposed to a higher one

2019-01-12 19:58:31 UTC

Because a completely free market capitalist country is hard to do at this moment

2019-01-12 19:58:40 UTC

Would be hard

2019-01-12 19:59:13 UTC

ye

2019-01-12 19:59:16 UTC

I'm not even advocating for it

2019-01-12 20:00:07 UTC

I don’t know how you could be pro higher minimum wage

2019-01-12 20:00:20 UTC

neither

2019-01-12 20:00:44 UTC

Even my economically retarded ass understands that it makes no sense

2019-01-12 20:01:10 UTC

lmao

2019-01-12 20:01:16 UTC

I like this server I get to actually learn about shit

2019-01-12 20:04:32 UTC

I would also like to abolish min wage, but I know that can't happen

2019-01-12 20:05:33 UTC

if it were abolished, then yes the free market would determine the wage, but for low skill labor such as being a stocker at a grocery store, you wouldn't be paid well at all

2019-01-12 20:06:09 UTC

most people don't have the skills to find well paying jobs, and if they did, there would be mass shortages

2019-01-12 20:06:47 UTC

You would be paid well

2019-01-12 20:06:49 UTC

the market level would be a well paid job for that skill, and the market would just reallocate jobs

2019-01-12 20:07:01 UTC

paid well for stocking shelves?

2019-01-12 20:07:15 UTC

how much would you pay someone to do that

2019-01-12 20:07:16 UTC

To keep employees yes, as firms compete for labour

2019-01-12 20:07:35 UTC

but for a low skill job, you don't need to pay competitive wages

2019-01-12 20:07:52 UTC

a lot of people can replace the guy going out because you don't need a skill

2019-01-12 20:08:11 UTC

Easier than it sounds

2019-01-12 20:08:14 UTC

You do or you won't get employees

2019-01-12 20:08:59 UTC

well those people who reject the opportunity to work, what happens to them? they can't live off 0 income

2019-01-12 20:09:15 UTC

Why would you reject the opportunity to work

2019-01-12 20:09:21 UTC

that isn't an excuse to use other peoples money

2019-01-12 20:09:32 UTC

But there are chruches, private charities etc

2019-01-12 20:09:33 UTC

`You do or you won't get employees`

2019-01-12 20:09:58 UTC

I mean theres not alot of people doing that job as you may think

2019-01-12 20:10:04 UTC

Firms would still have to compete

2019-01-12 20:10:05 UTC

are you saying that if a firm were to pay non competetive wages, that they would not get employees?

2019-01-12 20:10:17 UTC

Not as many as needed, no

2019-01-12 20:10:21 UTC

in a free market

2019-01-12 20:10:57 UTC

well where would those people don't want to work at that firm due its low wages go?

2019-01-12 20:11:04 UTC

No it shouldn’t lol that would just make more people reliant on gov benefits

2019-01-12 20:11:25 UTC

in a perfectly competitive market, without government intervention, collusion between firms would prevent that sort of competetion

2019-01-12 20:11:26 UTC

What do you mean?

2019-01-12 20:11:33 UTC

Firms would not collude

2019-01-12 20:11:37 UTC

or the market would simply reallocate the jobs

2019-01-12 20:11:43 UTC

And they end up in a worse problem

2019-01-12 20:12:03 UTC

but the firms are the market, if they cut their variable costs by colluding and all setting a similar low wage, why wouldnt they?
