yeah I mean there's no good way around that right? when you need to update infrastructure people are just boned who have to interact with that infrastructure
but I don't think that's an excuse to not repair things
like it sucks but we gotta do it
and last I checked our bridges are in a *seriously* bad state
and if they fail then the government is gonna have to intervene, and it'll be way more expensive to deal with a broken bridge than to repair an existing one
"wahxToday at 20:25
what? how does that make sense. You have to cross a bridge, and you can't cross any other bridge, why would they want to lower that cost?"
Competition between other methods of transport
The bridges are currently a monopoly
and it's the reason why it's so broken, not maintained well
Not to mention congestion and traffic blocks due to the free rider problem
free rider program?
which would be solved in a privatised system
Free rider problem
competition between bridges and... other methods of transportation? like what
I heard you lol can you explain it
people taking benefits from public goods they didn't contribute to
Now we have excess demands on these roads which leads to shortages
oh like companies driving trucks on roads without paying much in taxes by tax evasion
No
Well
maybe yea
lol
stuff like that
but anyway, generally speaking, you have a bridge somewhere because getting there otherwise is tough
what do you say to someone who has to cross a specific bridge to get somewhere?
trains and other roads will be a problem if there is a high price charged
what about our homie @Colonel Sanders™ , who it sounds like only has one way to get somewehre
or a price above the equilibrium
wouldn't private companies just drive up the cost of his drive?
because they know it's the only way somewhere?
How?
and who
the problem with privatizing roads and other public infrastructure is that there are very specific regional monopolies
Colonel Sanders
roads are monopolies currently
haha, you're not hearing me, regional monopolies
if there is *ONE ROAD* to get somewhere, what will happen to the tolls on that road?
in a free market situation
Wdym what will happen?
will the tolls go up... or down
will the price be high... or low
