Okay?

2018-08-21 00:05:29 UTC

I'm just talking about congress

2018-08-21 00:06:07 UTC

I mean, i don't disagree that Congress barely does anything at least now, but historically, um, that's just wrong

2018-08-21 00:06:40 UTC

were they ever less useless? Sure. But they were still useless

2018-08-21 00:06:50 UTC

lol

2018-08-21 00:07:36 UTC

Then they set the precedent of letting Obama rule by executive order while they just sat with their thumbs up their collective asses collecting a paycheck

2018-08-21 00:08:13 UTC

So, realistically if trump decided to do the same, he'd have a precedent to do so because they made themselves obsolete

2018-08-21 00:08:16 UTC

You say they were useless since it's founding, yet you can only point to as recently as Obama

2018-08-21 00:08:29 UTC

I was making a specific point

2018-08-21 00:09:02 UTC

Which I agree, they were pretty helpless in the past 8, 10 years or so

2018-08-21 00:10:02 UTC

And then there's the whole thing with democratic systems always inevitably devolving into plutocracy

2018-08-21 00:10:02 UTC

Maybe, they have gotten stuff done, but the media never reports it on it

2018-08-21 00:10:05 UTC

As if it were a black out

2018-08-21 00:10:41 UTC

I mean, Cocaine Mitch confirming those circuit judges 😘 👌

2018-08-21 00:10:55 UTC

Then Kavanaugh 😘

2018-08-21 00:16:40 UTC

Step 1: have elections to get public office
Step 2: need to win the popularity contest to get elected
Step 3: spend money to promote yourself to as many people as possible
Step 4: opponents forced to try and outspend you
Step 5: eventually escalate the costs to the point where neither of you can afford to run anymore, nor can the vast majority of the population, limiting their available representatives the the extremely rich or people who get outside funding
Step 6: sell out to various lobbies to get campaign funds, but also tell people whatever they want to hear so you get elected
Step 7: ignore campaign promises to the general public because they don't pay the bills
Ta-da, political candidates with more sponsors than nascar, putting their demands above ours

2018-08-21 00:20:14 UTC

"That what is called democracy is always in fact plutocracy. The only alternative to the rule of the rich is to have a ruler who is deliberately made more powerful even than the rich. It is to have a ruler who is secure of his place, instead of rulers who are fighting for their place." - G.K. Chesterton

2018-08-21 00:21:34 UTC

Ah yes, the Tucker Carlson take

2018-08-21 00:22:14 UTC

wdym? Not very familiar with Tucker

2018-08-21 00:22:19 UTC

or his takes

2018-08-21 00:22:29 UTC

lol, are you even from the US?

2018-08-21 00:22:35 UTC

im assuming not

2018-08-21 00:22:36 UTC

Yes. I don't watch tv

2018-08-21 00:22:39 UTC

huh

2018-08-21 00:23:04 UTC

I know he's better than most on tv, but he's able to stay on tv, so what he's saying isn't terribly controversial

2018-08-21 00:23:17 UTC

I didn't imply he was

2018-08-21 00:23:18 UTC

yet, at least

2018-08-21 00:23:25 UTC

although some things he says are stupid as fuck

2018-08-21 00:23:25 UTC

he's said some stuff that got close

2018-08-21 00:23:47 UTC

I don't disagree, but we're probably thinking of different things lol

2018-08-21 00:23:56 UTC

I mean he's smart, but on some things, hes just frustratingly dumb

2018-08-21 00:24:20 UTC

so what were you referring to when calling that a TC take?

2018-08-21 00:24:30 UTC

basically the mindset

2018-08-21 00:24:38 UTC

which is

2018-08-21 00:24:51 UTC

of a person hell-bent on draining the swamp

2018-08-21 00:24:56 UTC

which is impossible as you know

2018-08-21 00:25:10 UTC

Trump certainly isn't doing anything to drain it, that's for sure

2018-08-21 00:25:26 UTC

lol, well I would disagree with that

2018-08-21 00:25:38 UTC

lol

2018-08-21 00:25:40 UTC

but mainly because I'm not thinking in terms of electoral politics

2018-08-21 00:26:26 UTC

I mean, Cohen, Trump's ex lawyer, is about to be charged on campaign finance violations and $20M in bank fraud
