Morning
Tbh if we had money my sister and I wanted to volunteer as well
They start naturally, they happen a lot in Australia, but due to not being allowed to cut trees down to stop spread of fire, it’s way bigger this time, thank the eco warriors for that
Yeah... had the same issue here in Oregon 20 years ago
It was during one of the high times for rioting against cutting down any trees
Ended up with a wildfire that absolutely devastated a large portion of the cascades
I drive through it every year
Thing is you gotta cut some down so that fire can’t jump between all the trees
Yeah and we were trying too hard to prevent wildfires as well
It amazes me when people refuse to be pragmatic lol
Is it true that the 80% center of Australia is uninhabitable?
Preventing wildfires just makes it way worse
We had refusal to cut trees, and we were too good at preventing fuckin' wildfires
So it made a massive one
i have arrive
This was their plan all along to bring down the treechiarchy.
Lol
Ugh, it’s like common sense has flown in favour of stupidity
Oh I hiked through a lot of the area where the wildfire hit too
I got a much bigger sense of the scope this last summer after hiking around a mountain
Getting sick from the heat lol
😔 2020 is really a hell for me
And my family...
Soo peeps... playing dragon age origins... sword and shield warrior or great sword two handed? 😉
There was a lot of outrage over the eagle creek fire we had a couple years ago but like
Honestly the damage isnt as bad as it was made out to be, it was handled really well
@Immortality Hold up, I'll ask my ex.
Jkjk lol
A lot of it did get scorched but it was a healthy scorching. It hit patches instead of just burning through a whole section of forest
Exactly, that’s the point of controlled deforestation, ideally, that’s how we should do all our lumber industry
Cause at the same time we’re actually helping the environment...
Yeah
People were mostly upset because it was started by a kid with a firework
But bigger fires were started in the same year and year after that got much more big
It was mostly publicized so much because it was near Portland and the gorge is very well visited
My province is huge on the forestry and fishing industries.
Yeah same here
I think Oregon is one of the biggest suppliers of lumber in the country
I cut trees down quite often myself haha
And we're still doing a better job of maintaining our forests on top of it
