Those are from the US cencus bureau

But it doesn't really quite mean single-parent families

"In this definition, single-parent families may include cohabiting couples and do not include children living with married stepparents. Children who live in group quarters (for example, institutions, dormitories, or group homes) are not included in this calculation."

It's about kids living with a married parent

..

So if hear quoted around the MRM that 35% of kids are fatherless, it isn't quite true

But that's as close as we seem to have really got to statistically measuring the prevalence of fatherlessness when I last checked.

So that same sort of definition muddiness applies to the fatherless shooters data

It would be more accurate to say 26/27 mass shooters come from homes with a fatherlessness problem, though I'm not sure if that would be absolutely accurate

Btw, the kids count data is IMO absolutely terrifying. 52% of children of american indian descent don't have a stable married family. 66% of black. 42% of hispanic.

Interesting. And yea, saying that is probably the best we can get. We need to be careful with our statistical data, it's too easy for people to pick holes in it if we can't even police and understand it ourselves
