I mean, if anything, that would be closer to being racist.
@InsaneCaterpilla Exactly. Feminists declared men the enemy long ago, and we are the misogynists purely because we say "no!"
What did you say that they responded to with that?
I wrote an eye-rolling review of a leaked poster that made it look like they were going to rip off the snowman from frozen (but as a talking fork) and replace that interesting cowgirl lady with a bland looking generic action-girl.
Only I happened to use the phrase 'PC nonsense' - which I admit was really stupid of me.
Basically I turned into the Daily Mail for two seconds because I decided it was more appropriate than saying 'SJW dross'.
It really set them off. They worked out I was an MRA and decided that meant that I was super sexist and hate female empowerment or something.
I prefer actual equality tbh.
Ah ok, I remember hearing a shorter version of that story
I think it’s kind of sad she was taken out, she was a super girly delicate toy owned by a young boy, you could argue that as a statement she was saying it is okay for boys to play with dolls deemed “girly” by society
@Abbysol I agree, though I guess it's TBC if she really isn't in it.
Bo Peep was actually one of the characters on the poster - but she was using her staff in a way that suggested she was going to be the typical no-personality kung fu chick
To be honest, the one on your picture looks like she has an actual personality, even if she isn't the typical 'ultra capable woman' type
Honestly, if they put one of those in there straight it would ruin the premise because all the toys have major personality flaws.
Personally, I'd rather just have an actual real character.
And I mean that as regardless of how much ass they kick.
Well I thought we got that with Jessie as the more outgoing tomboyish girl... you know... like diversity?
I feel like people don’t appreciate emotional strength, in the first movie she was an emotional rock that had no trouble calling out other characters for their shit while maintaining her compassion
I liked that she wasn't SJWish
I mean - that's how you add more diversity to a cast naturally
Without having the boys take an IQ cut or doing a Mary Sue
But we'll see if they do it properly or not, I guess
I actually didn’t mind how they did barbie in 3, kind of neurotic, super gossipy, kind of ditzy but still very genuine.
Was just sad that 3 was the one where bo peep also vanished into thin air
I never personally noticed her, but I guess she seemed bland in her design?
I guess she's back though
She never had a major role in any of the movies to be fair
I feel there is a real lack of truely feminine characters these days, and I’m saying this as probably one of the least feminine women you will ever meet xD
When I say truely feminine I mean like characters where the femininity as seen as a virtue or a strength, not as a weakness that needs to be overcome.
That's a very good point.
It's almost like they are the sexist stereotype so they're replacement is a really bland sexist stereotype. Lol
I actually think Moana did the love and compassion defeating the big bad thing really well, even though there where a lot of things wrong with that movie it did a lot of things right too
People really did their best to pull controversy out the ass for that movie in particular, good times
Did they?
I don't remember hearing much
The usual SJW “it’s not good enough” as well as a bunch of people doing the “OMG this is SJW garbage, MC is a Mary Sue”
Also Disney marketing be like “hey look our first black princess, look how progressive we are now!” That didn’t really help.
Like Princess and the Frog or Atlantas never happened, I also count Nala from Lion King since she is obviously meant to be African
If you want just people of colour you then also have Mulan, Jasmine, Pocahontas... also not really a princess but Esmeralda and Lilo too, and vast majority of these well before all the cries for diversity
