but, since that day, everyones gone crazy
you are either with us "feminist, against the patriarchy, against all political ideologies that are not liberal"
or against us
My UNI had rooms setup for people after the election to come talk about the results and how it would affect them
I, for some reason I can't remember, said "Well, would we have had these rooms if Hiliary won?"
wow, you should have seen the outcry
For them, It's basically you're with us or you're a nazi
Yup
since then, I've just stopped talking with most people, whom I do not already have a political understanding of, about anything
Getting a coffee and then headed back to the court house. Prayer Time. Updates to come!
I wish u luck I'm sure you will do well
@Dan da Dad Good luck at the court! I'm rooting for you!
Hope everything goes well for you today mate
I should be asleep >.<
@InsaneCaterpilla It's the internet, so I think that goes for 90% of us here. XD
Haha
Hello @papaschnay !
Hi there
Just checking in to say hi. @modulos and I actually work on the same campus so we kind of get hit with a lot of the same political environment 😛
@Men Are Human are you affiliated with the website menarehuman.com at all?
Oh do you? I guess you found a friend in that case. 😃
@papaschnay I am indeed!
Anything you'd like added to the stories or articles?
no, i just thought i'd tell you that I read your article about the Gillette ad and it does a pretty good job of explaining what i can't put in words to those that don't get it ... i've linked to it quite a few times
for what it's worth, i'm kind of right of center which on an american college campus feels like a far-right extremist
Thanks a lot for linking, that's a really big help. If you have any feedback, let me know!
It's a huge shame you are getting treated like that. I've seen that attitude online recently that the whole right wing is far right - which doesn't even make sense really.
I'm glad you liked the article though, and I hope it helped. 😃
Could you tell me more about the day to day stuff? Are you being harassed at all, or is it only when you say something they see as 'bad'?
@papaschnay you're not alone at all, there are many more like you. thats why people are beginning to oppose feminism/SJWism
so, it's interesting. i don't dare open my mouth as a member of leadership on a college campus for fear of losing my job by expressing wrongthink. some of my opinions are considered unpopular so i bite my tongue because i like what I do here.
thats what i did for years. but the thing is, there are many people who secretly agree with you. they are just waiting for someone to speak it. we cant wait for things to change, we ARE the change
it's incredibly frustrating to be in such a politically charged environment surrounded by activists on the other side of the spectrum yet there are no repercussions for their opinions getting expressed
you could make a difference if you speak out. but yes, there's risk
what just boggles my mind, is that these people, whatever you say they are, label themselves as "harmony, includer, consistency, context, etc" but when you want to challenge their view and ask to be included, you get those look of udder shock
"This is a college campus, no? Can we not have civil discorse?"
i should have taken a picture of this. a while back, we have an area on campus that is used for demonstrations/gatherings and this particular day a feminist group was protesting sexual violence. good for them. they hung shirts with various slogans on them that were meant to bring awareness to different aspects of assault/violence.
One of the shirts read in black ink, "men are to be shamed, women are to be believed" ... and my jaw dropped because such blanket statements can never universally be true and divisive / harmful rhetoric like this only harms the discussion
Those such statements would be considered toxic masculinity should you reverse the genders and put that on a shirt out in a public forum. :/
