Glad to hear there is action being taken

2019-01-26 23:22:13 UTC

It seems to be a systemic thing though. One hospital is bad luck, two is a pattern. My ex GF was also training to be a midwife but quit because of the bullying and when there was a national story a few months back about a major incident in a london hospital that happened due to miscommunication I would say it's leaning towards a systemic issue

2019-01-26 23:23:59 UTC

These investigations should hopefully help put a dent in the issue though

2019-01-26 23:27:21 UTC

Hopefully, but this is only individual hospitals. It's not made it to a national consciousness yet. It's made harder given the demographic. Women working with young mothers and babies. How could they ever be mean /s

2019-01-26 23:31:29 UTC

Well spending time in hospitals you could see it wasn’t good, the nurses get really bitchy with each other with head nurse usually being the worst

2019-01-26 23:32:02 UTC

There seems to be a lot of corruption in caretaking in general, there's a lot of elder abuse in old folks' homes as well

2019-01-26 23:34:31 UTC

Did I ever tell you about the time where the nurses gave me dirty looks when I cleaned my dads balls for him because no one was cleaning him... also bringing him clean undies every week gets expensive because no one would help him wipe his bum

2019-01-26 23:35:26 UTC

No. That's fucked up

2019-01-26 23:35:27 UTC

That's awful

2019-01-26 23:35:59 UTC

I get that it's a stressful job, it probably has some negative mental impacts, but that's not okay

2019-01-26 23:36:13 UTC

I'm in favor of caretakers and police getting regular mental evaluations

2019-01-26 23:37:29 UTC

Well once when I wasn’t there he tried to wipe himself and burst his stitches and got blood and lymph fluid all over the floor, was sitting the buzzing for the nurses for about 15 minutes because an angry nurse came in to yell at him for buzzing so much

2019-01-26 23:38:12 UTC

Holy hell, I think I'd much rather die before I ever had to be put in one of those places

2019-01-26 23:38:23 UTC

I am a full time caretaker now, it’s fun how little support I get

2019-01-26 23:39:54 UTC

That's fucking disgusting. Surely that warrants being reported. Negligence leading to complications and harm. Not to mention psychological stress

2019-01-26 23:40:34 UTC

My dad talked to the solicitor and they said they didn’t want the case

2019-01-26 23:41:45 UTC

There is a lot more shit that hospital did that they should be sued for, but it’s a bit complicated

2019-01-26 23:42:08 UTC

Annoying but I understand.

2019-01-26 23:42:37 UTC

Without money things are difficult to fix or hold people accountable

2019-01-26 23:42:53 UTC

Also I think he is a bit done with courts on top of everything else xD

2019-01-26 23:43:32 UTC

Fair.

2019-01-26 23:44:45 UTC

Also child support was still happening when this was all happening xD

2019-01-26 23:45:46 UTC

Pretty difficult to fight a court case while also having to pay child support

2019-01-26 23:46:51 UTC

For context, my mum has kicked me out of home, my dad was in hospital and couldn’t pay it, so I payed for the child support that was meant to me for raising me... the child

2019-01-26 23:47:11 UTC

System is fucked

2019-01-26 23:47:48 UTC

That is disgusting, are there no allowances for being *literally physically unable to work*?

2019-01-26 23:47:49 UTC

A genuinely Kafkaesque nightmare.

2019-01-26 23:48:22 UTC

Pretty sure there are laws where being in a coma is no excuse for missing support payments

2019-01-26 23:49:22 UTC

Well, shit. That might just be the best excuse I've ever seen to not get anyone pregnant

2019-01-26 23:49:50 UTC

Reminds me of seeing this today

2019-01-26 23:50:26 UTC

What would they even do to someone who's comatose and missing child support payments anyway? Cart his body off to court and then to prison? 😬

2019-01-26 23:50:51 UTC

Like I realize that's being facetious but how would they even enforce that

2019-01-26 23:51:10 UTC

Just financially ruin him when he wakes up.

2019-01-26 23:51:11 UTC

Well there was a guy who was captive in the Middle East, when he was finally released he was arrested as soon as he got home because of overdue child support

2019-01-26 23:52:30 UTC

So you say you are being facetious but I honestly wouldn’t put that past them xD

2019-01-26 23:54:16 UTC

That is genuinely awful, imagine the kids being ecstatic just to have their father back from a life threatening situation, and then... boom, he's arrested

2019-01-26 23:55:30 UTC

Also if you miss one payment ever, no matter the reason, you are actually “legally” labeled as a deadbeat dad for the rest of your life

2019-01-26 23:56:05 UTC

Which can be held against you in future

2019-01-26 23:56:07 UTC

In court

2019-01-26 23:57:11 UTC

Sorry, just curious, what country do you live in? I noticed "mum" so presumably not America
