Some mechanical/aerospace engineer is getting fired.

2017-03-22 22:28:16 UTC

@Convo do you have more info?

2017-03-22 22:28:29 UTC

on what

2017-03-22 22:28:31 UTC

the aircraft?

2017-03-22 22:28:42 UTC

Did that happen today?

2017-03-22 22:28:43 UTC

"...external hydraulic O-ring seals on the steering control module's selector valve were extruded (distorted out of the seal's groove). A small offset was found in the steering control valve." … the problem would not be detectable by normal visual inspection procedures. It appears that though the problem is rather rare, it does have to do with that particular design of the steering control module.

2017-03-22 22:28:48 UTC

no this was in 2005

2017-03-22 22:28:49 UTC

Why that happened? Lost hydraulic pressure?

2017-03-22 22:28:52 UTC

im just reading about it

2017-03-22 22:29:14 UTC

Looks like it

2017-03-22 22:29:18 UTC

Let me guess, engineering ethics where you learn about how to not fuck up?

2017-03-22 22:29:24 UTC

yeah

2017-03-22 22:31:11 UTC

The best to learn how to not fuck up is to seriously fuck up once

2017-03-22 22:31:24 UTC

I remember that class, we had to read the entire email thread re the Challenger.

2017-03-22 22:31:37 UTC

Thats how I learned not to fuck up. Fuck up YUGE once in life and youll always be on watch to not fuck up again

2017-03-22 22:31:52 UTC

But if the fuck up is bad enough your career is done and you will guilt drink yourself to death.

2017-03-22 22:33:14 UTC

How is that situation unethical?

2017-03-22 22:33:35 UTC

protip

2017-03-22 22:33:37 UTC

With the landing gear? Bad design?

2017-03-22 22:33:37 UTC

if you're an engineer

2017-03-22 22:33:44 UTC

and you dont fucking kill yourself and say sorry

2017-03-22 22:33:48 UTC

you are doing something unethical

2017-03-22 22:33:52 UTC

literally everything is unethical

2017-03-22 22:33:59 UTC

unless you donate all of your money to charity and then kill yourself

2017-03-22 22:34:18 UTC

Donate your money to the ADL goy say your sorry goy.
