the correlation of all socialist nations has always been they've been recently feudalistic societies with a huge peasant population @Xinyue Currently I don't know of any country like this, the world is now fully globalised and all nations have transitioned from Feudalism to Capitalism, nations that recently were feudalistic and were still transitioning had the opportunity to become socialist, the 20th century was your chance, it was destroyed by Liberalism just like Liberalism and Socialism destroyed Nationalism. There are no more opportunities, you need to find another alternative that still fits your ideology

2018-12-13 09:04:29 UTC

maybe i'm wrong though, but i do think this is a very obvious correlation

2018-12-13 09:04:31 UTC

2018-12-13 09:05:11 UTC

Oh it can be done. There's no reason to assume it will be impossible, only that it will be exceedingly difficult. I'm not going to be that easily demoralised 😉

2018-12-13 09:05:47 UTC

I don't think a country full of people with iphones and with normal wages who are brainwashed by liberalism and capitalism will acknowledge the fruits that can genuinely come from socialism @Xinyue also you can see this from the fact that when liberalism destroyed socialism, like a disease it infected socialism and turned it into a joke, one being "social democracy" and "democratic socialism" both being liberalised forms of true socialism, same for nationalism

2018-12-13 09:05:49 UTC

germans aren't human

2018-12-13 09:05:58 UTC

Social liberalism

2018-12-13 09:06:50 UTC

@Res Publica so basically Paki, got it

2018-12-13 09:07:00 UTC

@aymem when automation and adoption of new applications of AI from recent few years makes everyone permanently jobless and the elites consolidate everything, I think a wee bit of class consciousness will take shape and bring about some revolutionary potential. The only question is whether or not that will be too late.

2018-12-13 09:07:05 UTC

Today's liberalism is social liberalism

2018-12-13 09:07:07 UTC

@aymem so heavily socdem fascists get the bullet too

2018-12-13 09:07:33 UTC

AI will certainly change the landscape and this is why i'm not a pessimist, Marx was right in assuming that the positive of Capitalism is the constant need to evolve and to enhance production, this will inevitably make humans obsolete

2018-12-13 09:07:34 UTC

HOWEVER

2018-12-13 09:07:41 UTC

I think there is a huge argument to be had

2018-12-13 09:07:51 UTC

on what will be the consequence of having wage labour be obsolete and unnecessary
