The civil war would have lasted much longer
And not to mention the dozens of nationalist movements
Hell, 1855
There's a very good chance that there would be another civil war, they were a lot like the Republicans in Spain, heavily divided, but only united because of a common threat
I’d say 1881 with the death of Alexander II
If the commies lost the Ukrainians would've had full independence
@Honey Beanger Alexander II was the root of the problem
the strength of the USSR was precisely that it was
a) internationalist
b) class based
so it was able to not only beat back the whites using the unified lower classes, but also was able to expand beyond the Empire's then-borders *because* it could accommodate everyone
His early forms and Emancipation fucked the tsars
@The Real Head Honcho How liberation of slaves is bad?
Okay let me put it to you like this
If emancipation never happened the system would have collapsed into bloody revolt much earlier
oh yes
it would've fallen sooner
For hundreds of years your entire state and economy runs on a serf-based state
Its established and entirely dependent on that
the 1905 revolution would've come sooner and instead of being failure would've succeeded, bare minimum
All of a sudden, that is abolished with no clear alternative, and the nation plunges downwards economically and socially
Tell me that is a good choice
In any capacity
It opened the door for industrialization and allowed the peasants to migrate to centers of industry
@Honey Beanger export and foreign investment plummeted until the 1890s
you had the communists and Narodniks and a whole bunch of people spreading revolutionary ideologies of varying types among the Russian lower classes who were embittered and angry, it was always going to end up this way
For a good 20 years Russia was in free fall
the Empire was stagnant and was going nowhere
The empire was stable until the emancipation and liberalisation
Yeah the 1890’s boom wouldn’t have happened without emancipation
Yes, they were behind, but a gradual transition would have helped them catch up
The emancipation was the most ill-conceived, badly implemented solution to the problem possible
neo-White Movement is literally the greatest gay position ever, please abandon this immediately
You know what else is gsy
gay*
And emancipation has already taken place in certain parts of the empire, namely the Baltic provinces as well as the former peasants of church land
Not to mention the fact that the Nobles, who at the very least kept a lid on things, were now replaced by Kulaks
Who were literally just peasants that exploited the vacuum
"the Empire was stagnant and was going nowhere" That's bullshit. Also fun to hear that from a Soviet fan.
no u
The empire was stagnant, sure
And was falling behind
