they had a huge boom in film back in the day, and a lot of live action stuff now is pretty much just trying desperately to relive the glory days

honestly, on the topic of horror, I generally think that horror as an entire genre has been pretty lackluster for quite a while
in the west, that's mostly due to the fact that directors have to make their movies pg-13, and rely WAY too heavily on jump scares
there are some directors that have done a good job of tapping into what makes the horror genre so good, but for every good one there are a dozen shitty ones
then again, even when horror was at its height, that was still the case, with all of the copycat works that didn't really bring anything to the genre
That drag queen v Fuentes clip was pretty depressing
Midsommar looked good..
I haven't seen it, but I have seen several people that I trust on horror film trash it horribly
though, since I haven't seen it, I don't really have much of an opinion on it, since I know that it was well liked by a lot of people
