the global definition of refugee
lol
no you're just outright changing the definition of refugee
lmao
you seem to have a very narrow definition of it
which you probably learned from really dumb sources
which is fine
but you should learn the actual definition
you made your definition up and you're trying to distract from the actual content of what im saying
`Although the term economic migrant is often confused with the term refugee, economic migrants leave their regions primarily due to harsh economic conditions, not fear of persecution on the basis of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership of a particular social group.`
an "economic migrant" is not a "refugee"
again here is the distinction you are failing to mak
lets say im a refugee fleeing syria right
and i've fled into turkey
okay?
okay...
that would mean i am no longer vulnerable to being persecuted
i'm completely outside of where the conflict is
unless you are also persecuted where you move, but yeah
you are escaping persecution
i'm still a refugee, but i'm safe and the need to flee from conflict and persecuion is no longer valid since i'm not fleeing anymore
i guess?
the only possible reason i would want to leave turkey and go further into europe is for the economic prosperity
in effect, i am no longer a refugee
that's what you need to understand
i don't hate refugees at all, i think ppl have valid reason to flee syria and etc
so you think that refugees are gaming the system once they are no longer refugees because they enter Country #1
but i don't see how it is our responsibility to then have to babysit a huge chunk of the middle eastern population when they are in our country for economic reasons other than fleeing conflict
where is "our country"
USA?
i don't think they are necessarily gaming the system but i think they're trying to get into europe because it's economically affluent and they have better prospects there
im talking about the UK mainly but it's more broadly encompassing the entirety of europe
i would have been better saying continent
well, it probably has a lot to do with the conditions in Country #1 they flee to, right
country #1 = their native country
?
no
country #1 = country fled to as refugee
what reason would there be for that
if they are treated like animals, or live in mass poverty, or are discriminated against
or are starving, etc
