Mathematically speaking the T34 had 94mm of armor (LOS thickness at 90 degrees) what did contemporary German armor have?

2018-09-24 15:51:31 UTC

>not taking into account metallurgy and shit tier soviet steel

2018-09-24 15:52:23 UTC

I said mathematically

2018-09-24 15:52:37 UTC

There is no way to put a numerical value to that

2018-09-24 15:53:01 UTC

I'm just asking what German armor was because I don't remember

2018-09-24 15:59:07 UTC

epic pig iron armour

2018-09-24 16:00:17 UTC

Pig iron, pig iron

2018-09-24 16:00:34 UTC

They tried to match the Russians with the Pig Iron on their dicks

2018-09-24 16:02:00 UTC

*pig iron on their diiicks*

2018-09-24 16:06:53 UTC

The Panzer'd not turned turret for a shell had fairly ripped, and the Russians aim was deadly with the pig iron on their dicks

2018-09-24 16:31:19 UTC

PzIV had 50mm of armor before the F series applique plates added another 30mm, G/H series had factory 80mm plates.

2018-09-24 16:31:53 UTC

Tiger had like... 102mm

2018-09-24 16:32:50 UTC

Panther and KT had ungodly amounts of armor, BUT, hilariously enough, one of the most armored tanks of WWII was actually the Hetzer.

2018-09-24 16:33:06 UTC

It had like 120mm effective

2018-09-24 16:37:32 UTC

Also can we just talk about the Hetzer Kugelblitz that was proposed?

2018-09-24 16:39:31 UTC

The Hetzer one?

2018-09-24 16:41:02 UTC

The tiger's armor was ok when it came out but it was outclassed by new tank guns that could easily engage 102mm of unsloped armor at long range by the time the western front opened

2018-09-24 16:42:25 UTC

It would have been a good method of moving an 8,8 around except for all the engine, transmission, ext issue

2018-09-24 16:44:06 UTC

So the Hetzer kugelblitz was basically the Kugelblitz turret mounted on further modified Pz 38(t) chassis?

2018-09-24 16:52:32 UTC

>Hetzer Kugelblitz

2018-09-24 16:53:15 UTC

Too bad the Hetzer was fucking cramped as shit tho

2018-09-24 16:53:49 UTC

Also how effective would an E-10 actually be?

2018-09-24 16:54:16 UTC

The little ambush casemate twin barrel rocket TD

2018-09-24 16:57:16 UTC

Probably not very. The E25 would have been a fucking monster though.

2018-09-24 17:23:45 UTC

Tho a towed gun tractor that can back up its gun would be cool

2018-09-24 17:24:00 UTC

A what?

2018-09-24 17:38:57 UTC

So basically an IFV with a tow hitch.

2018-09-24 17:39:23 UTC

Or an APC with a tow hitch so you can truck the crew and the gun

2018-09-24 17:56:38 UTC

yh

2018-09-24 19:00:15 UTC

Why not just a portee?

2018-09-24 19:00:54 UTC

Or do you mean that the tow vehicle can provide direct fire support for the gun crew?

2018-09-24 19:44:09 UTC

My absolute favourite what if is the IV project W

2018-09-24 19:46:07 UTC

You have an 80mm upper plate, sloped, 50mm sides, sloped, and vastly simpler production, and actually *increase* the space in the hull

2018-09-24 19:46:25 UTC

Combined with the simpler box turret

2018-09-24 19:46:33 UTC

Cancelled in late 44, sadly

2018-09-24 19:47:05 UTC

Nah

2018-09-24 19:47:32 UTC

The Pz.IV was long past its expiry date

2018-09-24 19:47:44 UTC

It still worked

2018-09-24 19:48:13 UTC

It doesn’t have to compete with IS-2’s and Pershings, it’s dealing with Sherman’s and T-34’s
