A dog’s-breakfast of an article at Marine Corps Times suggests that the Marines are considering issuing the M27 IAR, now issued to squad automatic riflemen, for issue to all riflemen — not all Marines, in the sense of “every Marine is a rifleman,” but to MOS 0311 Riflemen
That second article is spot on
It's just a god damn m16A1 modernized
We went burst fire under the logic Marines can't hit shit on full auto and waste ammo in Nam
Here we are
It is all a cycle
they figured out that F/A is nice for room clearing
Karl of InRangeTV seems to think the IAR is tits
but I don't understand why
It's not a bad rifle
It's pretty good
when they did a lightweight AR build
IAR is a porker by comparison
and their WWSD builds arent piston
"external piston"
Oh yeah no the IAR is a fat cunt
12lb AR or 14lb MK46...hmmmm
i know the russians use RPKs, but I think the shift towards mag fed SAWs is due to smaller regional conflicts and not total war
just like the OVERMATCH theory coming out of afghanistan
You kind of defeat the purpose
but they can share mags with everyone else
isn't that wonderful?
I think it's a pretty cool change. The 243 was pretty fun though.
If yur SAW needs to use grunt mags you're fucked anyway
they’re basically switching out their SAWs for LSWs
let's see
how many mags fit in the space of one 249 box
and what's the ammo difference
about half
200 round box vs 6 mags and some change
right, but look at the dimensions
STANAG in a 249 basically renders it a straight pull bolt action lol
you can carry more belted ammo than ammo in mags in the same space
I dislike grenadier and dmr roles being shared
I think having at least one beltfed per squad would be ideal. Those mags go fast on full auto.
Whoa, almost like belt feeds are the most efficient means of storing large quantities of ammunition for an automatic weapon
6x30= 180, meaning that you loose 20 rounds every 200 round box you replace
