The majority are young adult men

2018-12-17 17:13:35 UTC

They used that same clip about that girl for the UNHCR advertisement for Canada

2018-12-17 17:13:52 UTC

And they used it last year for the Australians

2018-12-17 17:14:32 UTC

Reusing clips of something that probably happened a long time to advertise for refugees

2018-12-17 17:14:40 UTC

Something is fishy bruh

2018-12-17 17:17:33 UTC

Found the advert I took a screenshot of. It's a rerun from last year.

2018-12-17 17:17:42 UTC

Weird

2018-12-17 17:18:29 UTC

its almost like they want donations

2018-12-17 17:18:33 UTC

weird..

2018-12-17 17:20:00 UTC

It's almost like they're taking advantage of a migrant crisis using old footage that has nothing to do with todays migrants.

Like, is this girl still in need? Why didn't she get help last year?

What happened to last years donations? Did they do anything?

Are the donations even getting to those in need??

2018-12-17 17:20:49 UTC

Apparently not because this girl is still traumatised

2018-12-17 17:20:50 UTC

nah but ofc people are in need of healthcare

At a moment like this it is desperately necessary to discover just why Socialism has failed in its appeal. And it is no use writing off the current distaste for Socialism as the product of stupidity or corrupt motives

2018-12-17 17:32:09 UTC

@Flash can we gat da vois started

2018-12-17 17:33:05 UTC

Can't talk rn

2018-12-17 17:35:01 UTC

the main reason why corporate CEO billionaires are pseudo-left wing is because they want to use a powerful govt. to write legislation that favors their companies, specifically incumbent corporations

2018-12-17 17:38:06 UTC

the reason for this is that companies need a lasting competitive advantage in order to earn above avg. profits

2018-12-17 17:40:51 UTC

the only competitive advantage that is lasting and most effective is barriers to entry; in other words, reducing competition, because competition lowers prices, and lowering prices cut into profits esp. when the cost structure cannot be changed and costs cannot be reduced

2018-12-17 17:49:19 UTC

anyways, for example, one of the reasons brand medications are expensive is because there is limited competition in the pharmaceutical sector. There's almost no such thing as new companies being created from nothing and then rising to compete with larger companies on price. most pharmaceutical startups either get acquired or sell IP to larger companies

2018-12-17 17:49:19 UTC

Congratulations, @BW10 for reaching level 8!

2018-12-17 17:51:11 UTC

due to pharmaceutical companies not facing significant competition, prices dont fall. expensive FDA testing is also another reason but thats another story

2018-12-17 17:52:04 UTC

The problem with pharmaceuticals s there is no central state generic producer to produce stuff ata fixed price

2018-12-17 17:54:50 UTC

I don't think the govt. is very capable of setting prices that are in line with market supply and demand

2018-12-17 17:59:01 UTC

Sure they are. The gov pays for all the meds so we only need to set the price at the production cost plus development, so we can also expost at dumping level

2018-12-17 17:59:50 UTC

govt. is not subject to massive losses like ccorporations are bc govts. can raise taxes to make up for inefficient use of resources, which can prevent prices from going lower in line with what people can afford

2018-12-17 18:00:30 UTC

govt. does not always pay for all the meds in the USA. I used to work in a pharmacy too btw and medicare is a joke

2018-12-17 18:02:20 UTC

the govt. is not good at using resources efficiently, so the cost of production could be set way higher than what it needs to be

2018-12-17 18:03:20 UTC

thats one of the reasons why the Great Depression in usa lasted so long was because of price and wage controls to "help" farmers

2018-12-17 18:06:58 UTC

all it did was prevent people from affording food and other necessities , but John M. Keynes said "oh look there is a lack of 'aggregate demand', and a 'shortage of money', therefore lets give people money to stimulate economy and inc. aggregate demand" but he never reasoned that the reason why there is a lack of agg. demand is because people can't afford it because the prices were too high-they wouldn't come down to market levels. Keynes is a classic example of an economist confusing correlation for causation

2018-12-17 18:14:18 UTC

also, consider that during the reign of the Soviet Union, the govt. would look at department store magazines from countries with freer markets, look at their prices, and use a similar price to set the price of Soviet shoes. If that doesn't say massive failure of communist govt. to set prices independently of capitalism, idk what to tell you.
