if it does happen it means a TRIAL in the senate where everything will come out
The Senate becomes jury and judge, except in the case of presidential impeachment trials when the chief justice of the United States presides. The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official is removal from office.

but it doesn't mean that an impeached president can't run in the next term
the impeachment process is not final until the senate votes
if the senate holds a trial and if senate dismisses then all that happens is all the dirt comes out
