yeah i know
Make the investment now, spend $80-$100 every 1-2 years to rebuild them.
i just dont have anything that comes up higher right now , things disappeared around here
But you work in the desert, I've never existed in that climate. Are leather boots not doable because of the heat?
they aren't bad
i used to wear high leather boots when i did welding
but id prefer more breathable for trail/all terrain
I'd recommend looking for a pair of used red wing iron ranger 8" or 10" on eBay and take them in for a full resole.
so i havent been in the combat style boot market for a while and have started casually browsing
You'll have boots that are already broken in with fresh soles.
But if you want breathable uppers, I don't have much of an opinion there
I've only ever owned hiking boots of that style
I've had good luck with Solomon and Vasque hiking boots
those are what i have now
thes Iron Rangers look more like a regular sole, im looking for a more combat style boot
everything has thorns here and want to stop having shredded ankles when im out in the desert
been years since i have bought any
You can put whatever sole you want on them
I recommend vibram oil/slip resistant soles.
ok ill keep those in mind
That's my point, buy a used pair of boots for the upper, build them back up exactly as you want them
Vibram should have an online catalog of soles
Your local shoe repair guy should be able to order them. I think amazon carries some too.
yeah dealing with resoling shoes is new business to me haha
I wouldn't buy a pair of boots to wear daily that aren't Goodyear welt constructed. Look for that if you look into leather/mesh uppers
Vibram ok will look up
It's worth it tbh
yeah im not looking for every day wear
All my current boots other than my hiking boots are basically custom built
cool
ill see what i can find for breathable uppers
They're more expensive up front, but you can do a full resole at least 3-4 times, so it ends up being way cheaper
makes sense
Plus you get what you want
I went down this road years ago because I couldn't find a decent pair of motorcycle boots I could wear to the office that had oil resistant soles
Which is pretty much mandatory on a bike IMO. Roads have diesel all over them, especially at toll booths and stop lights.
i might have to find something cheaper while i plan it out and figure out exactly what im going for. on a budget and have some trips soon where i'd like something with ankle protection while hiking and scrambling
i hear you
good advice on the resoling
ok gotta go take care of stuff. bbl. thanks @YUGE. I'll ask Vanguard later too, he likes going on about boots too
Later man
