MIA

2017-05-11 19:39:35 UTC

What's your price range?

2017-05-11 19:39:50 UTC

ehhh undecided

2017-05-11 19:40:05 UTC

as i want to scope out ranges and see if i should just save up

2017-05-11 19:40:14 UTC

Short answer is yea

2017-05-11 19:40:18 UTC

yeah i know

2017-05-11 19:40:49 UTC

Make the investment now, spend $80-$100 every 1-2 years to rebuild them.

2017-05-11 19:41:15 UTC

i just dont have anything that comes up higher right now , things disappeared around here

2017-05-11 19:41:28 UTC

But you work in the desert, I've never existed in that climate. Are leather boots not doable because of the heat?

2017-05-11 19:41:41 UTC

they aren't bad

2017-05-11 19:41:51 UTC

i used to wear high leather boots when i did welding

2017-05-11 19:42:10 UTC

but id prefer more breathable for trail/all terrain

2017-05-11 19:42:41 UTC

I'd recommend looking for a pair of used red wing iron ranger 8" or 10" on eBay and take them in for a full resole.

2017-05-11 19:42:45 UTC

so i havent been in the combat style boot market for a while and have started casually browsing

2017-05-11 19:42:58 UTC

You'll have boots that are already broken in with fresh soles.

2017-05-11 19:43:18 UTC

But if you want breathable uppers, I don't have much of an opinion there

2017-05-11 19:43:31 UTC

I've only ever owned hiking boots of that style

2017-05-11 19:43:47 UTC

I've had good luck with Solomon and Vasque hiking boots

2017-05-11 19:44:00 UTC

those are what i have now

2017-05-11 19:44:34 UTC

thes Iron Rangers look more like a regular sole, im looking for a more combat style boot

2017-05-11 19:44:56 UTC

everything has thorns here and want to stop having shredded ankles when im out in the desert

2017-05-11 19:45:06 UTC

been years since i have bought any

2017-05-11 19:46:10 UTC

You can put whatever sole you want on them

2017-05-11 19:46:31 UTC

I recommend vibram oil/slip resistant soles.

2017-05-11 19:47:05 UTC

ok ill keep those in mind

2017-05-11 19:47:08 UTC

That's my point, buy a used pair of boots for the upper, build them back up exactly as you want them

2017-05-11 19:47:24 UTC

Vibram should have an online catalog of soles

2017-05-11 19:47:47 UTC

Your local shoe repair guy should be able to order them. I think amazon carries some too.

2017-05-11 19:48:21 UTC

yeah dealing with resoling shoes is new business to me haha

2017-05-11 19:48:27 UTC

I wouldn't buy a pair of boots to wear daily that aren't Goodyear welt constructed. Look for that if you look into leather/mesh uppers

2017-05-11 19:48:28 UTC

Vibram ok will look up

2017-05-11 19:48:34 UTC

It's worth it tbh

2017-05-11 19:48:42 UTC

yeah im not looking for every day wear

2017-05-11 19:48:53 UTC

All my current boots other than my hiking boots are basically custom built

2017-05-11 19:49:00 UTC

cool

2017-05-11 19:49:08 UTC

ill see what i can find for breathable uppers

2017-05-11 19:49:31 UTC

They're more expensive up front, but you can do a full resole at least 3-4 times, so it ends up being way cheaper

2017-05-11 19:49:43 UTC

makes sense

2017-05-11 19:49:45 UTC

Plus you get what you want
