Pleasantries will be common. Luxuries, not so much.

2019-03-01 23:59:57 UTC

You'll be more polite if everyone is armed and trained.

2019-03-02 00:00:00 UTC

@Xychotic Ya but a community would need to be isolated from our corrupt government in order for that to occur.

2019-03-02 00:00:02 UTC

thats true

2019-03-02 00:00:07 UTC

honestly dudes seem hell bent on purging shit so ......rock on with socks on...

2019-03-02 00:00:07 UTC

respect will be a virtue

2019-03-02 00:00:35 UTC

@Cruel Reality Nope. Its principles will be maintained in parallel while the country does its own thing.

2019-03-02 00:01:21 UTC

@Xychotic knows lol, the goal is complete independence from the grid, it will probably take a LOT of hard work but the pay off will be worth it

2019-03-02 00:01:47 UTC

You can't in a place where the government still mostly works.

2019-03-02 00:01:51 UTC

@Xychotic That would demand that all forms of government law enforcement be members of the community in a secret society type manner. Additionally, how would you deal with taxes and overreaching government policies.

2019-03-02 00:01:52 UTC

you cant just go into the woods and be like, yay ive done it, establish a sustainable society and then you have achieved something

2019-03-02 00:01:57 UTC

So how much of the population would you estimate would die in such an event?

2019-03-02 00:02:16 UTC

like 90%

2019-03-02 00:02:21 UTC

A proper shtf only needs a few percentage points.

2019-03-02 00:02:23 UTC

maybe even more 95

2019-03-02 00:02:31 UTC

when all is said and done

2019-03-02 00:02:55 UTC

So...

2019-03-02 00:03:01 UTC

Pretty much all of us

2019-03-02 00:03:03 UTC

@Xychotic The point I am making is that the only way this would be feasible, would be an isolated self sustainable society. However, unless things truly go to shit I do not believe it is worth sacrificing an enjoyable lifestyle for perceived freedom for a corrupt but currently tolerable government.

2019-03-02 00:03:08 UTC

yeah pretty much

2019-03-02 00:03:47 UTC

That’s why we need to prep, might move to Montana and wait for it, the rebuild after

2019-03-02 00:04:14 UTC

@Cruel Reality I disagree.

2019-03-02 00:04:18 UTC

I can agree with prepping, however it would be more beneficial to establish an information network of individuals in close proximity with valuable skillsets

2019-03-02 00:04:31 UTC

Have any of you seen the VICE doc on the guy who lives in the middle of Alaska with his wife, he’s an example of someone who would survive in such an event

2019-03-02 00:04:36 UTC

I doubt there will be much to salvage other than copper, metals, plastics and those types of resources.. we need to start anew

2019-03-02 00:04:51 UTC

@Cruel Reality See, that's what I was thinking. Create a tribe that knows the deal and comes together when things start slipping.

2019-03-02 00:05:04 UTC

cities will burn to the ground

2019-03-02 00:05:09 UTC

houses will burn to the groud

2019-03-02 00:05:09 UTC

Completely independent person, who would be fine with the collapse of society

2019-03-02 00:05:16 UTC

it will look like a bad street of detroit

2019-03-02 00:05:17 UTC

@Leif_Ericksson99 Is his life style pleasant? Could it support a large amount of people? Does he rely on assistance from normal society?

2019-03-02 00:05:30 UTC

but everywhere lolk

2019-03-02 00:05:32 UTC

Independence is one of the big parts of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

2019-03-02 00:05:48 UTC

But you should be ready to synergize, too, when you find a brother.

2019-03-02 00:06:26 UTC

Its ironic because Libertarian societies work a bit like communism

2019-03-02 00:06:33 UTC

just on a small scale

2019-03-02 00:06:36 UTC

@Cruel Reality he does have a wife, and no he doesn’t need society, all he does is hunt and trap his food

2019-03-02 00:06:56 UTC

@Xychotic I agree, I think that would honestly be more valuable. Example: my background is in chemical engineering and physics. One of my cousins is an electrical engineer and spent a year surviving in the woods by himself/is an eagle scout. If we had a few educated people and had to construct something from the ground up i think we could.

2019-03-02 00:06:58 UTC

Lives in a cabin

2019-03-02 00:07:23 UTC

The only difference is in a libertarian society you are free to leave and keep your belongings

2019-03-02 00:07:34 UTC

@Leif_Ericksson99 Talking to only one person and spending all your free time hunting and trapping sounds like a miserable lifelong existence.
