yeah - but he wanted me to make a full scale CMS within 3 days
i had to tell him no
I've been a professional programmer for 16 years, 50% of my work is just using google for people too lazy.
And reading documentation...
Bosses dont like hearing "idk how to do that" even if its the truth
Right, define "fullscale" CMS?
i am very new to programming, sub 5 months
he wanted me to make a site that could manage all of our db's records
K, well as a programmer, you have to learn programming has very little to do with code, and a lot more to do with "finding out what the customer REALLY wants."
yeah true - but i couldn't do it in 3 days
When youre on the field you gotta play the game a certain way to get ahead
i needed time to learn
true revel
Right, but you could do somethin gin 3 weeks?
now you're just haggling over time.
Building a CMS is dead simple.
i'm not a veteran like you man - i'm new - i would need time alone to learn
And remember this: Bosses use psychological warfare on their subordinates
yeah now i can do it - but at the time i had no xp in web dev
Look man.
I'm not attacking you or anything, it's just typing, so it's hard to communicate like with tone and stuff.
I'm just trying to share some wisdom.
I'm totally attacking you.
i know man - i wasn't rejecting what you were saying
Your face is a butt.
ofc you are
When I took my first programming job, I lied my ass off
I said I could do shit I really couldn't
and I was up all night on google reading tutorials, and trying different things
and I basically probably maid like $2 and hour at the end of that project
If your boss tells you he wants something done in 8 hours when it usually takes 10 hours. Hes doing that on purpose.
did you spend 90% of ur time on tech support tho?
and answering other people's emails
But I learned a lot, and made like the worst auotmatic archiving system the world has ever seen.
He doesnt want you bullshitting
But I got the money, and I got the experience
<:yay:523032349563158528>
i got an email last week asking how to insert a column in excel
Dude, google that shit
write up a tutorial, make a screencast and send it to them
Some bosses also never take accountibility when theyre wrong. They rather stay wrong and in charge, then be right and take the backsest for 2 seconds.
